Does anyone know of a script that can be used on an EchoIRLP node that woul=

I'm not aware of anything out of the box. There's multiple ways to do this, depending on your setup. If your node is directly connected to a repeater controller, you could have the controller generate the tones, and simply have the node send a DTMF command to the repeater to change the tones (even do it on a per port basis if you only want the remote link to have the changed tone, so distinguish it from local users). If using the IRLP repeater controller , you should be able to do something there (swap a WAV file/change tone generation parameters on the fly).

Simplex and nodes on the repeater output frquency are a bit more problematic, because adding any tone here adds a slight hangtime, which can make it harder to disconnect from a busy reflector.

Anyway, the changes you need to make would need to be controlled from the custom_on and custom_off scripts. It's easy to determine what type of connection is active using this code:

Probably best managed by the repeater controller as Tony described. The
ctone script might be modified to do this on a simplex node, but I haven't
used ctone in many years. It's in the IRLP Yahoo group files area for
scripts.

I'm not aware of anything out of the box. There's multiple ways to do this, depending on your setup. If your node is directly connected to a repeater controller, you could have the controller generate the tones, and simply ha=
ve
the node send a DTMF command to the repeater to change the tones (even do i=
t on
a per port basis if you only want the remote link to have the changed tone,=
so
distinguish it from local users). If using the IRLP repeater controller , y=
ou
should be able to do something there (swap a WAV file/change tone generatio=
n
parameters on the fly).

Simplex and nodes on the repeater output frquency are a bit more problemati=
c,
because adding any tone here adds a slight hangtime, which can make it hard=
er
to disconnect from a busy reflector.

Anyway, the changes you need to make would need to be controlled from the custom_on and custom_off scripts. It's easy to determine what type of connection is active using this code:

Understood Klaus,

I thought I had seen you on the 210 group but perhaps not. Anyway good
choice. The 210 has 3 ports and can be easily set up to handle EchoIRLP
on one of them or there is a neat mechanism to run an extra port which
fits in with EchoIrlp or other VoIP system (eg AllStar). The courtesy
tone from the 210 can be changed to indicate a link state.
If your IRLP board does not have AUX then use of ctone will be a problem.
The 210 would allow signalling of a link connection but not able to differentiate EchoLink from IRLP.
An IRLP board with the AUX outputs will allow the creation of a signal
to indicate each connection type using ctone with a mod to detect the
active mode. The output generated can be fed to the 210 as CW.

of the new one= s with the aux ports.

But many controllers also have DTMF commands, you might be able to do something there, IRLP has scripts to send DTMF over the radio port (make sure your repeater controller mutes DTMF! :) ).

I did briefly look at the ctone script as it is probably the closest thing = that might work that is available.

That's an option too, though only works on the audio from IRLP, and also does add a bit of turnaround delay to the system. But still a viable option.

But many controllers also have DTMF commands, you might be able to do something there, IRLP has scripts to send DTMF over the radio port (make sure your repeater controller mutes DTMF! :) ).

Thanks Doug for the info. You might have seen me on the arcom list as last = year I installed a 210 for a club in St. Martin W.I. so might have asked a = few questions since I was new to the controller.

This one is for a club in Punta Gorda Fl. that I belong where I added an Ec= hoIRLP to their existing vhf repeater this past spring. Now they want to ch= ange out controllers as they have a cat-300 now but want to have more ports=
to handle a vhf and uhf repeater, plus the EchoIRLP node. Their issue was = that they could not tell if a connection was in place when wandering onto t=
he repeater. I don't personally think it is a big deal but seems they do an=
d want some sort of warning that irlp or echolink is active. I told them by=
dialing 0000 it will tell them what is active but I guess they want to go = with complexity. Hi.=C2=A0

I thought I had seen you on the 210 group but perhaps not. Anyway good=20 choice. The 210 has 3 ports and can be easily set up to handle EchoIRLP=20
on one of them or there is a neat mechanism to run an extra port which=20

tone from the 210 can be changed to indicate a link state.
If your IRLP board does not have AUX then use of ctone will be a problem.
The 210 would allow signalling of a link connection but not able to=20 differentiate EchoLink from IRLP.
An IRLP board with the AUX outputs will allow the creation of a signal=20
to indicate each connection type using ctone with a mod to detect the=20
active mode. The output generated can be fed to the 210 as CW.

I did briefly look at the ctone script as it is probably the closest thing = that might work that is available.

That's an option too, though only works on the audio from IRLP, and also does add a bit of turnaround delay to the system. But still a viable option.

I'm not aware of anything out of the box. There's multiple ways to do this, depending on your setup. If your node is directly connected to a repeater controller, you could have the controller generate the tones, and simply have the node send a DTMF command to the repeater to change the tones (even do it on a per port basis if you only want the remote link to have the changed tone, so distinguish it from local users). If using the IRLP repeater controller , you should be able to do something there (swap a WAV file/change tone generation parameters on the fly).

Simplex and nodes on the repeater output frquency are a bit more problematic, because adding any tone here adds a slight hangtime, which can make it harder to disconnect from a busy reflector.

Anyway, the changes you need to make would need to be controlled from the custom_on and custom_off scripts. It's easy to determine what type of connection is active using this code:

But many controllers also have DTMF commands, you might be able to do something there, IRLP has scripts to send DTMF over the radio port (make sure your repeater controller mutes DTMF! :) ).

I'm not aware of anything out of the box. There's multiple ways to do this, depending on your setup.
