• File echoes available

From Tony Langdon@432:1/101 to All on Mon Jul 18 16:05:00 2016
    Hi everyone.

I am in the process of creating the file echoes for the VKRadio network. I have created an area for nodelist and infopack distribution. This area is called VK_INFO, and has been turned on for all downlinks. Nodelists and info packs will be distributed there.

    Other areas will follow soon:

VK_SOFTWARE - Amateur Radio software (all platforms)
    VK_UTILS - Amateur Radio utilities.

I won't be turning these areas on, but they can be turned on using Filefix if you desire.

Expect a new nodelist and info pack to be harched within the next day or so, once I get the hang of hatching. :)

Actually, on second thoughts, all file echoes ended up being turned on. However, at this time, no new files will be hatched into the other two echoes in the immediate future. Traffic is expected to be light. Feel free to disconnect them using Filefix, if you want.

    Hey Tony,

ENiGMA 1/2 doesn't currently have netmail so I can't file fix, and currently doesn't have support for file areas... could you please turn off the file areas
    for me?

No probs, I hope to hatch the first infopack later today. :)

Yeah, hasn't been hatched yet. Still haven't got my head around the manual hatching process for Mystic. Paul's only given me fragmented information which I can't work with.

No stress ... I think we will survive without a nodelist for some time longer.

It will come. I'm awaiting on that to really start promoting the net.

Same as for messages, except you address your netmail to filefix, instead of areafix, and there is no %RESCAN. Also, it will take a little while for files to come through, I'm still sorting out hatching, but if you turn the areas on now, then you'll be ready to receive files, once I work out how to hatch them. :)

I've first received a reply by FILEFIX informing me about the non-existence
of those new areas... Do the new section are auto-generated as I've
    configured in msgs area too?

I've put in the request to FILEFIX the name of the files-section as I've written you in the previous post, with the '+' in front of the names, and without %RESCAN at the end. After the reply I've tried to resend without the '+' in front of the areas... I've received nothing for now, but if you think
it usually takes a week or something like that, I'll wait!

Hmm, interesting. They should exist on my end. And on your end, you can set the file areas to auto create, similar to message areas.

You should get a filefix reply straight away (well, next poll, if my end doesn't crash it to you).
