I'd love to get more VKs in the log!
Easy done on here! :D
It sure is. This solar cycle isn't making it easy to hit VK-land on HF though!
Yeah, HF is a bit harder. :( I'm down a radio ATM, with an IC-7000 needing a driver replacement. That also means I can't use the wire with the AH-4, but I can still run HF on the IC-745 into the dual band (40/20m) end fed antenna. My interests have tended to be mostly higher frequencies. I have an EchoIRLP node (the world's first!) with a remote base of custom design, running on a FT-736R, so it can operate on 6m, 2m, 70cm and 23cm. :)
Now that the local ATV repeater has converted to digital (DVB-T), I need to hook up a 70cm antenna to a set top box or tuner card in the shack PC. :) I have a transmitter also, but need a suitable 23cm antenna to hit the repeater. I've also been looking at 5 GHz wireless AV senders on eBay to use as local links between the shack and the rest of the house.
It also doesn't help that I had to pull out 150 feet of RG8X feedline
and so now I'm totally off the air. Either squirrels chewed the outer jacket (I found holes along the coax) or my neighbor accidentally hit
it with his weed whacker. Either way, the coax is dead and the dipole
is down.
Bummer. :-( Looks like a repair job to come. :)
... We have normality, I repeat, we have normality. (Whatever that is.)
