• Power Outage

From Jikey@9:91/30 to All on Mon Jul 17 21:23:53 2017

Power outage here in Phoenix this morning, didn't wake me up so by the time I realized, the UPS was dead.

Anyone have any experience with propane generators?

The PFSense router survived this one, although the domain controller lost
it's BIOS settings and would not come up. It's mostly headless which makes
    it worse :-(

Maybe time to move them all to virtual, which may be convenient in one way,
but perhaps lose it all in another way should the host die.. Ugh!

Sorry rambling here, it's amazing what losing power can make you think about, all at once :-)

Hope one and all had a better day.

    Jikey.

Sorry about your luck, My UPS dead years ago from old age. Never did replace it. When it happens here.. it pretty much a crap shoot what will survive.
Most of the time everything will power up fine when the power returns.

Nope, but I think their a lot like gas generators. I'd shop around for
whatever my basic needs are. Personally would what one that excepts a larger size propane tank for longer outages without needing to change the tank.

Well I'm grateful to hear any kind of rambling on this network. Losing the power that makes life easier is something we all take for granted. You living in AZ with all that Sunshine.. If I had deep pockets loaded with cash.. I'd look into buying a Solar generator from the guys at..

By-the-way my day was not so good either, while running my weed eater. I got into a nest of yellow jacket wasp.. and they ate me alive. Would post links to photo pics.. but you would all probably piss your pants from laughing so hard (: ttyl

    Hey all,

Ah...that's gotta suck :/ None of my systems have bk/up power. If the power goes out, they all go out. Never had a problem with them coming back up though. The only one that runs all the time is the host for Orbit BBS. If
the power goes down, it stays down until I power it back up. I don't leave
any other systems running while I'm at work.

Anyone have any experience with propane generators?

I know of several places around my town that use natural gas or LP (liquid propane). Personally, I have a 5700 watt gasoline generator.

I hope you get your systems back up :)

    Thanks!

Ouuuuch. Those buggers are mean this year, and huge. I've done battle
with them twice this year as they attempted to take over my trailer in the spring. I am proud to say I won! (This time).
