• Field day

Anyone amateur radio folks here taking advantage of Field Day today?

I would love to, but have no voice right now :/ Been sick for the last
couple of days. Sore muscles from hacking cough and no voice. But for a police dispatcher and part-time radio jock, no voice is bad.

I hope you all feel better than I do!

I wasn't aware of field day, but today is the 'All that wine and jazz'
concert near the University of Charleston, WV campus. Watched Maynard Ferguson's babd play there a few years back. Anyway, I do have a Kenwood
R-1000 shortwave radio that was very costly when I got it ($400). Also have a T-style att wire hooked up several hundred feet on tall tree branches. On a good day i can pick-up SW from around the world.

You should be able to pick up SW anytime with a setup like that. I'm a ham operator (extra class) and I check in to a net on 3.965 Mhz when I can. Haven't done much lately though...being sick and all.

I let a ham friend borrow my Yaesu FT-900 and my digital interface to run the PSK31 station again this year. Hope they make some contacts with it.
