Got out my Gamo Silent Cat (.177 cal) today after putting a new scope on it last night to sight it in. If you've not messed with the Gamo guns, they're advertised as "adult air rifles" and they are powerful.

The scope is a Barska Gen 2 Sniper scope my wife found at the local Goodwill store (yep...at the Goodwill) for a few dollars. The model is AC11668 3-9 x
    42. New, this scope runs between $100 and $150 depending on where you get
it. It has the illuminated reticle with red (for night) and green (for day)
if you want to use it.

After a few shots to get it sighted in, I'm hitting dead on at 25 yds. Seems the Gamo and the Barska make a good combo. I haven't shot enough to see if
the spring action of the gun will mess up the aim. The little scope that
Gamo includes with this gun is a POS and will not stay on zero. It wandered off to the left and I had to move it a click back every time I fired.

Air guns are quiet and are excellent for small game. I didn't have any
targets of opportunity to try it on today ;) All the birds and squirrels are too far away and I live in a residential area....don't want a stray shot knocking out someone's window.

I capped a couple of blue jays last year with it so I know it's deadly. Those birds were cleaning out my feeder :/ After I capped those two, I didn't have any more problems with the jays. The other birds stayed around and were able to get to the feeder. I'm not a fan of the jays...although they are
beautiful birds, they're bullies and keep the other smaller birds away. My feeder attracts alot of the small chickadees, titmouse and cardinals.

What I'd really like to have is one of the PCP air rifles in .22 cal. If you want to see one in action, YouTube is the place. Search for "Ted's
Holdover". The guy is a great shot!

Anyone else interested in air rifles?

    Thanks!

Right, my wacko neighbor just killed my biggest black rooster the other day just for crossing into his yard. The State police came out and talked with him about the killing of my bird. But said there was nothing more they could do because it was just a Pellet rifle. Anyway, he own me $10 dollars & will be getting know more free eggs from anyone over my way again. I maked sure that he
know i'm pissed of about the stupid killing of a Rooster that would sometime eat corn from my outreached hand.

This is a problem here also... I've spotlighted 20to30 bucks, doe's and small to not so small babies feeding off what I put out in my fields for them to eat.

Yeah...got lucky on that find! My local Goodwill gets in some good stuff
    every now and then :)

Well...that sucks :/ As I'm a police dispatcher, we get calls from time to time when someone shot someone else's dog or cat.

I have a couple of foxes come into the yard once a year or so during the spring. Haven't seen any so far.

I did move the bird feeder today. Within an hour or so it was getting
traffic. The chickadees and titmouse found it right away. The cardinals
came in later. Right now is "robin season" as those birds are everywhere. I could pop a few of those and have a nice snack ;)

    Thanks!

Our bird feeders get set up, and the little finches find it right away, then the stellar jays chase them all away. After a while, the little birds started ganging up on the jays, and it was great entertainment seeing the little birds winning in the end instead of being chased away.
