Is everyone is planning on planting a garden this year. Year after year
we've seen our culture in decline. I have a very bad feeling about this year.. One does not have to do much reading to learn that a world war
may be brewing. And even CNN, a mainstream tool of propaganda, is
featuring conservative guests who are preaching doom and gloom for the financial markets. In short..things are looking rather bad right now..

I'll be dehydrating more than canning/freezing this year. Dehydrated
stuff lasts longer as there is less chance for spoilage, it is lighter
and easier to transport and if the power gets shut off the freezer isn't
much help. I often put my dehydrated veggies into vacuumed packed jars
or bags. I've had good luck doing so in the past.

    Enough of the rant...

    Happy Gardening!

We are /hoping/ we will have some property by spring. We are working very hard towards making it happen!

We did some basic canning this past year, but I don't know anything about dehydrating veggies.

I've yet to buy a dehydrator yet. Been leaning toward the stainless excalibur machine. If you have not yet followed watching Doctor Dave youtube video's

I have a back yard waiting for landscaping, will have an opportunity for a decent vegetable garden. That, and I tossed out a lot of canned goods when I moved, going to replace those with storable foods.

Silver's still pretty low, anyone buying? Most of my silver I bought at 18-20, so I'm sitting on it.

My strategy is starting all over collecting silver. Because I just traded all my rolls of silver eagles for a 2008 Mazda. He wanted 8,000 cash, but since I've been holding onto the silver for 20 same years. The Car actually cost me less then half that much.. cost me 12 rolls, 20 eagles per roll.

Thanks for the tip. I'll subscribe to DD's channel and watch his videos today.

I have a Nesco dehydrator that I bought at RuralKing. It's plastic but
has worked well for several years. I've also used my electric oven to
dry thyme, basil, and other herbs but I usually just hang them and them
dry when I can (I put a small fan in the room to keep the air moving to
    avoid mold).

Since my health is still poor I am going to have to shelter in place. I
lost all of my saving when I had a stroke a few years ago so I don't
have to worry about loosing that anymore. But, do have a fair amount of
toilet paper put back for barter - silly? Luckily, I've got access to
fresh spring water and I have learned what plants and insects are
edible. I also have a good gravity fed water filter.

Okay so from the start your plan was to collect the silver and use it to barter for something you needed in the future correct?

I'm not slamming I'm trying to understand everyone's end game with precious metals. I'll admit I have some as well stored elsewhere and I have my own exit
plans which is similar to yours with one exception. If the price jumps to a $50USD an oz I will dump it all for fiat currency and start over.

Quick question, what is your exit strategy?

For silver, I don't have one -- I'm keeping it as an inflation hedge and if that's not needed, something to pass on to my kids.

Yes, But it killed me to part with something that I held onto for so long knowing that it will only grow in value. While paper money looses value. I needed, a reliable car at the time.. more them the Silver coins.

I've heard that visiting a Bank in China they have vending machines where you can trade paper money for gold/silver coins. I'll take a guess that you'll never see that happen in the US banking system. If this is true, what exactly does his tell me about China knowing, what is valuable or extremely valuable. They know the trillion dollar debit the US owns them is loosing value plus can't or will never be paid. Maybe that is why Bill Clinton gave China the Deep
Water Sea port in Long Beach/SanDiego in the 90's? Just google real estate bought by China in past 10 years. How long it takes for the US to be bought by foreigners investors is only a matter of time. I degress.. but still perpare for a worst case scenario ...Whether it's the Banking system or some other type
of a SHTF disaster ever happens. It will always be good to be self reliant. --- GoldED+/W32-MSVC 1.1.5-b20150715

That's what we're doing for the most part. Unless as I said previously I can
make a whole pile of fake money off of it while it's still good for something.
Of course we're not rich so the amount we will have saved is less then a single order some of those youtube guys make. ;)

China also used silver as currency for a couple thousand years. The average joe there has it squirreled away I'm sure.

We do grow some food in the garden, though not enough to survive on. It's just an additional hobby, with the thril of harvesting one's own produce. However, this year hasn't been particularly good. :( Each season varies considerably.
