Some people just starting out will often ask, how can I become a hacker? The short answer for that is:
- The state of mind of being a hacker: an explorer, an adventurer, being inquisitive
- Learning Linux and other *NIX (UNIX, BSD) as these systems are far more stable and capable than Windows or Mac
- Learning a programming language or at least a scripting language
- Deciding your constitution: good guy (white hat), bad guy (black hat), and the gray hat being something inbetween
- Knowing enough about computer security to be able to pass the Security+
and CEH (certified ethical hacker) certifications, if not the CISSP
- Being ever eager to learn, and not pretending to know something when you don't
- Coming to a place where you can not be bought out; a place where you will stick with your moral principles and not be a Judas Iscariot, no matter what.
I hope this article finds you well.
