England in the 60s had a device called a Teasmade - it was a
combination alarm clock, nightstand lamp and teapot. The alarm would
go off, light go on, and a pot of water set to boil.
This is true, and my folks had one up until at least the early 80's, as a
young lad I used to love going into their bedroom at the sound of the alarm
and watch my dad or mum roll over and get the tea that was made by this
amazing machine.
I must have been 4 or 5 maybe 6 at the time. Truly fascinating.
