Has anyone looked into making add-on Language text translations for CNet? I wander if there is a program out there that will replace all the english words with say Spanish or other languages? I may have to look into this. I think this would be awesome now that we can Telnet world wide!

The default is Modified. It will show you RoF default BBSTEXT. If you
pick Stock, it will show you the stock BBSTEXT that came with CNet. This is just the start. I found a few programs that can translate a text file to another language. I will give this a try next with the stock BBSTEXT.

I like that.. I know you can do that with some of the PC boards, but didn't with CNet... I like it... :)

wow! How does it switch the bbstext? Does it switch for everyone online at the time or just reload for that one port?

Getting the layout of SysText: was a bit confusing, but I think I have it now. Also, I am now editing line by liner of BBSTEXT myself to Spanish. Doing a cut and paste of the lines with Google Translator. Its the only way I found to translate without changing the layout of the file.

Now that I am at line 153 of my BBSTEXT, I am wondering if I should of used the stock BBSTEXT instead. This way I can share it once it is done!? What do the rest of you CNet/5 SysOp's think?

The BBSTEXT is meant to be modified. What I am asking is, if I translate the stock BBSTEXT file, would others want a copy or would you rather have your own modified BBSTEXT translated? If SysOps will use it, I will do the stock version. If you want your own modified BBSTEXT translated, then you will be on your own.

I agree the bbstext was made to be modified, or else every wonderful add-on would be useless. I modify my bbstext as needed, but I don't replace it. Will you need to translate every pfile you've added as well? Personally, if you take
the time and effort to convert English to Spanish or whatever language you are
going to convert it to, I would be happy to add it to run side-by-side with the English version. Not understanding Spanish or Greek (Go Power BBS) i would find it difficult to help someone who logs on in Spanish and asks to chat. What
would I say? How could I help? I'm not sure I understand you 100% on what you are intending to do other than change the bbstext to another language, which I wouldn't understand.

So after talking in our Sunday JoinLink session. I think you got the idea of how it works. If anyone wants to get a better look, I have this set up
on RoF. As of now you will just see my Modified BBSTEXT and the Stock BBSTEXT
and menus when you switch between the two using the [EP] option at the main prompt. Soon the Stock BBSTEXT and menu's will be in Spanish. Well, I won't say soon. Thats is a lot of work, but a lot of work I will do and share. When
its ready, I will need Necromaster to proof-read my tranbslation! lol :)

It is a setting for each user. You choose what Translation you want and it stays that way unbless you change it back. As of now I just have my very modified BBSTEXT and the stock BBSTEXT set up. You get my menus or the stock menus. I just did this to get a grip on how it works. Now for the fun part. Taking my modified BBSTEXT and MENUS and convert them to say Spanish, then French, ect...
