• Dropbox plugin

    Hello All,

I found that there is a Dropbox plugin for NetDrive. Has anyone used this? I am thinking of buying it (my stimulus money came in today, yay) and it would be worthwhile for me to have it as a "hot" backup option.

    Sean

I purchased a few years back and never got it work reliably, but I
didn't spend a bunch of time on it. I ended up just using FTP to get
stuff copied to/from the OS/2 machine(s). I might give it a try again
someday though, as long as it has selective syncing, which I don't
    think it does.

But I will say, I love Dropbox. These days I use it so much that my
storage is 1.23TB right now and I have the 2TB package. I use it for everything! Photos, videos, backups, CD images, PDF Libraries,
    Documents, all types of stuff.

    Hello Kevin,

I am just looking at it as an additional backup option. A Micronet member has offered me space to back up the BBS on their VPS until I can get my own as a "warm" backup option. I am working on building a little P4-powered file server running XigmaNAS for a "hot" backup. I am buying another computer tonight for the BBS, a HP Z210 workstation, that has full-sized slots in it and a spare 3.5" drive bay which means I can put an internal SCSI tape drive for backups also if need be. Daryl gave me his registered copy of Back Again/2000 he wasn't using but I lost the damn key!

I use Dropbox a lot for storage. Once I get an income, I'll probably get a plan also. I like Spider Oak better with their zero-knowledge setup (they cannot access your data even if they wanted to unlike Dropbox which has full access to your data) but they do not have an OS/2 option. There is also AWS S3, which ArcaOS can work with nicely, but again, I need an income to do that.

My setup is a FTP server on the OS/2 box, my Win10 file server has a
ftp script to grab backup files off the OS/2 box and puts them in a
    Dropbox folder. Done.

Yea there is other options, but I am not sure if they would work as
seamless as Dropbox does. I tried to use OneDrive, Google Drive and
some other one and they never kept up with syncing like Dropbox does.
