• My Wednesday Nets

From Daryl Stout@618:250/1 to All on Wed Jul 29 00:01:26 2020
You can find yours truly, Daryl Stout, WX4QZ, on this net today.
A list of all the nets that I can be found on during the week is
at https://www.theweatherwonder.com/elk.htm -- look for the link
that notes "Nets Where WX4QZ is Net Control".

Nets on The QuadNet Array utilize the modes of D-Star, DMR, WIRES, and
System Fusion, together on one site. Go to https://www.openquad.net for details, and connection options.

All times are in the US Time Zones. I normally start early checkins
30 minutes prior to the start of the net. If I am unable to make it,
due to weather, health, internet, or other issues, I will try to get a
    backup Net Control.

Note that for nets where I'm "checkin only", these are with weather,
health, internet, and schedule permitting...and these are not guaranteed.

    Wednesday:

I normally am NOT scheduled to run a net on Wednesday, but if schedule
and other things permit, I will check into the following nets.

    ***

Net Name: The DRE Morning Net
Meets On: Reflector 29A -- also on the WA7DRE Ratflector on D-Rats
    Net Control: Varies Each Day
Net Time: 10am Eastern, 9am Central, 8am Mountain, 7am Pacific
Comments: The Digital Radio Enthusiasts Morning Net.

    ***

    Net Name: The Millennium Net
Meets On: N2NJY (Echolink)(3rd Wednesday Only)
    Net Control: Gary Wilt, N2NJY
Alternate Net Control: Daryl Stout, WX4QZ
Net Time: 9pm Eastern, 8pm Central, 7pm Mountain, 6pm Pacific
Comments: The Net was originally known as "The Net on 6", as it met on
both 6 meters and on Echolink, with Ray Jacob, W2RJJ, providing the
Echolink Node. After the death of one of its founders, Mike Thurlow, NJ2BA...Gary, N2NJY, moved the net to Echolink Only. All properly
licensed amateur radio operators, with privileges to transmit on
Echolink, are welcome to join the net.

It is a casual, roundtable format, with several stations checking in,
and discussion on a wide variety of topics. The net normally lasts
about one hour, and meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

    ***

Net Name: The Illinois D-Star Net
    Meets On: Reflector 51D
    Net Control: Steven Reiners, KC9SIO
Net Time: 10pm Eastern, 9pm Central, 8pm Mountain, 7pm Pacific
Comments: Originally on Reflector 1B, the net was moved in July, 2020,
to Reflector 51D, due to many stations "parking their hotspots" on
Reflector 1B, and as a result, they were being banned from that
Reflector. The net is open to properly licensed amateur radio operators,
with privileges to transmit on D-Star. Normally, only one pass is made
    through the log.

Nets on The QuadNet Array utilize the modes of D-Star, DMR, WIRES,

All times are in the US Time Zones. During US Daylight Savings Time
in the U.S., Pacific Time and Mountain Standard Time (Arizona stays on
    MST year round) are identical.

I'm now starting early checkins 30 minutes prior to the start of the
net...as it has become too hard to sit at the computer for 3 hours (to
start setup 90 minutes before the net, start checkins an hour before
the net, run the net which can last an hour or so, then do screenshots
and send off logs in 30 minutes afterwards). Even with a walker next to
me, if I sit too long, I become a "fall risk".

Many nets do NOT have pre-net checkin windows. If we don't get your
checkin, we'll get you logged another day and time. There are other
things in life besides checking into a ham radio traffic net.

If I'm unable to make it, due to weather, health, internet, or other
issues, I'll try to get a backup Net Control...but that can't always occur...and if that happens, the net just doesn't run that week. Also,
if on a particular reflector, if the National Weather Service is using
it for Skywarn Severe Weather operations, the net is automatically
    cancelled.
