Its been a long stretch since I've p0sted here. HELLO!

I've been experimenting with DOS machines a lot again lately, and as it happens I always end up with RG installed on them as its what I did for years in the 90s.

I think I recall RC 05-11 being one version I was on for a while - is that correct? I was around when the two devs were fighting it out on ftn's, and we got some good, needed, updates.

At any rate - any of you DOS-sysops; what DOS version of RG do you run and why? Whats the 'most current' DOS version - and do you choose that one, or some other release?

I've been thinking about RG BBSes and HOW to run them - I don't think emulation is so smooth, altho I know some of you have it down pat... I'm thinking about using an industrial 486 (Or Pentium) hardware thats brand new. Its bare metal, compatible and won't be breaking down anytime soon.

At any rate, just putting the feelers out there. I think the versions of DOS RG I have up are... 1994s 05-31 (was THAT the big one from back in the day... hmmm - I remember some 05-xx that I was on for a minute), 1996s 05-11 and 11-26D.

    Cheers - metroNetters!!! w00t w00t!

I'm one that has it. Vmware Exsi running an XP instance, RG runs VERY smooth with zero problems on an HPDL360 G6, running both telnet and a dialup line.

There is a nostalgic moment with old hardware but I grew tired of maintaining.

Thanks for this, and the next, reply. :P

Very nice - even w/ the modem rocking... good stuff.

Thats why I was *thinking* of one of the industrial 486 boards that are new and run actual 486 [or better] chips... I dunno - just kicking the rock down the road. Thanks for the chat.
