    Hey Metro;

Exodus has been awesome in fielding my request to carry Metro. I wasn't a part of the early PENN MetroNet in the 90s, let alone since the 2.o and even resurgence of BBSes. I grew up in Ohio, where I ran a Telegard and later a Renegade BBS for a few years - heck, I never even ran Fidonet... when it WAS cool; but I was a part of a regional FTN that supported Telegard, much like Metro does for RG.

Why do I need Metro @ 2o? My first love was Renegade BBS and I know that THE place for Renegade support is at home @ MetroNet. Exodus has [recently & personally] super helpful to ME as a sysOp on Mystic; let alone the work he still does with RG. I like Metro's technical, BBS and *RG SPECIFIC* bases and hope to contribute to them as I can. [Don't know that I'll be much HELP in *RG - but am sure that I will post in et. all.]

While 2o has a fairly active local message area, I don't know how much traffic I can specifically drive to Metro - but I'm going to create an marketing campaign that faces my users.

I'll be happy to bring my posts to Metro and think we could possibly see a few users poke around it, too. Personally, I'm stoked to have an avenue to discuss *RG* in a proper forum.

This went a bit long, but I just wanted to post that I WANTED Metro, Exodus handled us without fail and 2o will be a supporter, user and poster in MetroNet - I'm stoked to be here and thank even all the Metro sysOps for having us.

Lets get some new discussions rocking off in the Metro bases. I'm willing and able - and I'm stoked to be here!

    THANKS ya'll!

    :P Sir Lux. Lol.

You know... I am beta testing Igantius' RG Linux port - while it has a long way to go, the reason I wanted to grab it is... I've long thought about having an RG sister-BBS to 2o and running only Mystic & RG.

Right now I have ENiGMA.5, Talisman and have ran other sister-BBS softwares in the past; but in a perfect world, I think I'd have 2o on Mystic as the main - current board, but jump into a DOS [1.25+] RG setup and mod it out like I did in the 90s.. Man, for a while there we were doing some pretty rad stuff with RG. :P

There is so much gold in the file areas for RG - imagine if we had these collections back in the day. OMG.

One of my favorite things about running RG back then was how LESS updates came - and how much you could trust and lean on PRINTED DOCS. :P I remember my dot-matrix running for 2 hours to print out the 300-some pages that was the RG Docs. :P I had it all tabbed out, with tabs on each section... the MCI codes... the commands... :P Now you have to check the wiki just to see what functions changed last month, in order to fix that MPL that broke because we changed some data file.

Don't get me wrong, I love all that we gained from getting a lot more current - but... Who wants to help me setup a DOS/RG 2o?! :P

Agreed - I think a [badass] RG sister would be great. Dark Realms is one of my favorites ... and Catch22? I thought it were Sync, and if theres an RG flavor I need to get over there [Or, I just didn't realize that it IS RG.].

One reason why I haven't created an RG presence is... I run 2o on a Raspberry Pi 4. Is there software solutions that will allow for all the 1.25[or most current] RG versions to be hosted on Pi hardware? [Armh7, no EmuDOS but yes QEMU.]

Anyway, if I could get an RG base that was usable... the current Linux project is not... I'd jump off into it. Furthermore, I *do* have a ProxMox machine that is ready to host other OSes, so I guess I don't REALLY have any excuses - I know that theres software available to run as long as you can host any VM OS... right?

    Hmmm... :P

You know... I never used TBBS, either back in the day or after coming back. It was always the $999 or... expensive option, and I was more a TG/RG sysOp. :P

I remember they had tons of modules to install - and that most of the pay-boards in my area used TBBS. Some of those modules were freaking badass...

Wonder if loading up TBBS in 2o21 under DOSBox is something I could do, just to see what all the hub-bub was about.

I never loved TBBS boards... most of them used the stock DOS/ANSI menus - those kinda edit.com looking ones. While its teleconference was one of the best - back then - it wasn't my cup of tea. I'd like to check it out now, just for fun.

Dude I could rant for HOURS about trash-TV, trashy movies... those are all my favourites. All of it. B-Movies from the 80's and all the talkshows from the 90's. That Nosey app is amazing...

Its weird, I work from home doing tech support and can be knee-deep in VPN, SSH, RDP sessions and working on all kinds of complex shit but have something like Maury blaring in the background. "And the lie detector test determined THAT was a lie". Trash TV is my go-to for lovely pleasant background noise.

I miss the 90's soooo bad. There was an American Fox channel out of Buffalo or Rochester NY that had the craziest commercials late at night. Jim the Hammer Shapiro. "I'm PROUD to be an ambulance chaser! I accept injury cases most lawyers WON'T TAKE!" (with the picture of an airplane-crash in the background)

And that weird psychedelic mattress commercial or something obviously directed by someone on drugs. Its sortof like Russell "Cashman" Oliver we have here on local Toronto stations.

Gosh, I don't know of any either... I remember back in the day they were very like... you had the main TBBS software, and then sysOps would have different modules [add-ons] that they bought. I remember them being very expensive and that TBBS was popular with the for-pay BBSes.

When the internet first started popping up, I remember that TBBS had modules for email and some shell access stuff. Seemed pretty powerful, but thats what you get when a software cost $$$ and had a team of devs working on it.

Love After Lockup is fantastic. It's not as well made as 90 day, but it's just as entertaining. So basically all inmates in jail are scamming people on the outside in order to get money on their "books". Or in their Trust Accounts. They need the money to buy "soups" (ramen) etc, and then they use the food and candy bars to barter in jail. So the more in your trust account the more powerful you are in the jail. The girl inmates usually have multiple johns on the outside they are scamming for deposits. There are inmate pen pal website you can find if you're interested in making new friends.

Anyways, sometimes the inmates meet people on the outside that fall in love with them, or this idea of them, and when they get out they try to live together or get married etc. The show covers that. And it's the train wreck you think it will be.

Everyone is taking advantage of everyone else, and in the end things very rarely work out.

It sounds stupid, wonderful, disgusting - all the things that make a series popular in our weird freaking world.

Growing up, my parents were ministers... oddly enough, you'd see church members that had 'relationships' with inmates - sometimes, they would set the inmates up in our churches rehabilitation program after their incarceration. Who the hell does that? Right - Love after Lockup. WTF.
