So, I went and did it. I made a work around to allow the BBS to run ComPort only (Non-FOSSIL) Door games. Telnet over today and play some old time greats.

.... and more! Adding more as we go along and I find ones worth running. This takes the BBS up to around 440 total LOCAL Doors now. Come give them a try.

Thanks ... few kinks to work out, but otherwise it is running like I want it. I added TAME just to be on the safe side since I had a RG node open all the time waiting for a local ip telnet call.

I've been consistently impressed with how fast Renegade/Netfoss/net2bbs is. It's just very smooth, even while gaming.

Yeah .... I think the issue is Yankee Trader ... somehow it didn't jive with BNU and NetFoss in Windows ... I switched over to x00 to see if Windows likes it better .... I think this would've worked better if I had the comport BBS in a VM, but it made the bbs machine come to a crawl that way.

This is the same exact problem every time a dialup-caller logged in when I tried running things in a VM. The Fossil driver completely ties up the CPU
with I/O port calls for the modem. It didn't matter if Vmware was set to poll or yield the CPU usage on the serial port.

Maybe you should ask our resident professor how to fix it?

HAHAHAHAHHAHAH .... I THINK I found a shitty work around .... Since NetFOSS spawns a cmd window for each node, at the end of my batch file before the window closes, I spawn out into another window and kill te task I was just in.


Since everything was closed, except for the FOSSIL comport shitshow, it SEEMS to work .... but for how long, who knows?! But we'll see ....

Yankee Trader famously has issues with FOSSILs. You probably won't see any difference with the other driver. And it laughs at NetFoss.
