• Loading msg pointers

I had a query from a guest asking what "loading msg pointers" means. This is just the software loading up where in each forum you've read to. In computer terms the position you're at in a file is indicated by a pointer. This is used to tell how many new messages there are in each group and allows you to pick up from where you left it.

Boards with a small number of groups (called echomail) you won't even see these since it goes incredibly fast. EOTL BBS has over 1500 groups so it takes a little longer.

I hope that answers the question.
