China has been testing hypersonic weapons. Wonder who they plan to use
    them on?

I'm on a mailing list with a bunch of career-in-the-trenches and military-adjacent types who opine that no such weapons exist, and that
this is just China rattling our cage and puffing out their chest.

China has also been puttering around in "stealth ships" which are
painted real pretty, but are not at all stealthy.

The CCP is trying to build up national fervor for a military adventure
against Taiwan and Japan. Unlikely to go well... Folks on the mailing
list noted that while Japan (and probably likewise Korea) "doesn't have
nukes" right now... they *could* put 'em together literally overnight.

China is not in a good position to be yanking American chain (and if
Trump were still at the helm, they wouldn't dare). China imports 40% of
its food from the U.S., and we're also the biggest market for its
exports. All we need do to send them back to the dark ages is cut off
that trade. They're already in trouble thanks to massively overextended
real estate (and word around is that Xi brought down Evergrande on
purpose, because the CCP operates like a Mafia, MOST of its state
revenue comes from property tax, and Evergrande was the wrong kind of competition) and cutting off their coal supply from Australia to spite
their face, so suddenly there are major electricity shortages, as in
factories get power one day a week. Not to mention the ongoing floods
(they've had about 70 dams break, last I heard, with major urban flooding).

Also, the idea that China is broadly wealthy is wrong. Caspian Report
had a good vid this week on why they're stuck with the CCP, and very
telling was the economic map: all the wealth is along the coast; the
rest of the country is still dirt-poor. (No more poverty? Well, of
course not; not after poverty was redefined as earning less than $400/year.)

China Observer is a good channel for keeping up with the CCP Follies.

Could be. They seem to be doing that a lot lately.

Yes, I am sure both are capable. My guess is that they would attack either
of them to see how we would respond.

I have never believed that China was wealthy, outside from some of the
elite members of the CCP. Most of their population is in the geographic half of the country that is closest to the coast, too.

Thanks, I will have to check on them.

    Indeed! :)
