Subject: essentially never have to leave the house

    Hi August!

Many credit unions will allow opening an account on-line,
doing deposits and withdrawals on-line, so essentially never
    have to leave the house.
We still need a bank to convert physical cash into digital
    dollars (aka, savings/checking account).

That's true: can't take a picture of a dollar bill to make a deposit
like can with a check! ...But they have unique serial numbers; couldn't
shred after deposit acceptance like do with checks??!!

Years ago, a local radio station had a contest with a $100 bill. The
correct caller would have to guess the serial number in order. They
were told higher or lower, but they only got 1 guess per call. The
caller who correctly had the number, won the money.

Whenever it's "ratings period" for the radio or TV station, they will
do a contest or promotion to increase listeners or viewers.

That way, when the Nielsen (or comparable ratings service) releases
their data of "market share", the higher number of listeners or viewers
shown, the higher they can charge for advertising and commercials.

Bet there weren't any winners until the evening!

They still have those? I don't listen to OTA radio all that much and
don't recall the last time I heard them running a call-in contest.

I do recall having "Nielsen" some up on the Caller ID a year or two ago
    - maybe longer.

    Barry,

Actually, it took several days for them to win the money.

They still have those? I don't listen to OTA radio all that much and don't recall the last time I heard them running a call-in contest.

    Yes, they do.

I do recall having "Nielsen" some up on the Caller ID a year or two ago

When I told them all I watched was The Weather Channel, they quit sending
me stuff. However, since I put my Mom in a nursing home 5 years ago, none
of the TV's here have been powered up.

I was going to say "turned on", but that could have a sultry meaning...
yet, that's what I do when I get naked in the bathroom, with the shower
    head. <G>

    Yes, they do.

Possibly as a draw-factor against streaming options. ...Really
dedicated: calling in to a contest using a rotary phone!

Mixing TVs and a shower could be a shocking experience!
