From Barry Martin@454:1/1 to Daryl Stout on Fri Jul 17 07:57:00 2020

    Hi Daryl!

Remember, a lawyer is the larval form of a politician. I have no
use for any of them. Before the election, they give voters the
"thumbs up". After they win, they give them "the bird".
Maybe that's the problem: most are lawyers, they're used to 'sneaky'
ways to win the case (their bill/proposal) and so thinking only for
their constituents and not for all. ...Way too simplified, but sounds good! <g>
Originally, you wouldn't see political ads on "The Weather
Channel". Well, I guess Hell Froze Over (and I told mean the city
of such in the northern US <G>), as they are there now. :P

I suppose "money talks" and airing political ads is an easy way for them
(or any broadcaster) to get an income. As 'only' doing off the air
(OTA) stations here rarely see cable/satellite but have noticed
political ads are starting to become more frequent; seems like we just
    go over the barrage.

Especially considering the Postal Service has lost several
pieces of mail to/from me (medical bills, etc.).
Yes, had had lost mail too. I susbscribe to the USPS Daily
Notification ==> get an email showing the picture of the front of first class mail and some other classification as some bulk rate but with a
name besides 'resident'. Did go back and click on one bill we didn't
get -- never heard anything further. :(
I have that app, and if the mail doesn't look overly important,
I let it sit in the Post Office Box. I've decided to make
Wednesday the day that I check the box, and not worry about it
otherwise. If the box gets full, they just put a card in there,
and I have to claim the waiting mail at the counter. But, if I
don't have to go out on other errands, it's best to stay home,
and not waste the gasoline with driving...never mind fighting the
    traffic.

Plus less opportunity for contact with the coronavirus.

I could see suggesting other options so as to offer a more comfortable
I just have to be careful not to break a tooth. There's a candy
    known as "Jawbreakers". :P

I had a dental cleaning earlier this week and my dentist kidded me about
my Mother's cooking: was while visting her in NH (I'm in IA) on the last
full day she made Coconut Shrimp and I broke off part of a molar. No,
the shrimp was fine (and good!) -- I had occasionally noticed some blood
when brushing my teeth a week before while in Vienna, and that molar had
a rather large filling in it -- inside cusp just broke off.

My wife is so ugly a cannibal took one look at her and ordered salad.

year. The party out of power will do all they can to wrest it back from
the party in power...a never ending vicious cycle.

Plus less opportunity for contact with the coronavirus.

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson signed an Executive Order, that
requires masks in public, with very limited exceptions. But, like so
many that feel that "rules are made to be broken", they'll ignore it.
While no one likes being told "what to do", there are such things as "smartness" and "common sense"...but, both seem to have gone the way
    of the dinosaur.

Some people just plain don't like being told what to do and will do the opposite even if bad for them in the long run. At this point Iowa isn't requiring face masks in general public, there are requirements for
certain businesses. At this point I don't wear a mask unless need to
but if the state or county issues an order I will comply -- figuring they
    know something I don't.

    Ouch.

Fortunately no ouch other than the sharpness of the tooth on the tongue.
'Ouch' for general tooth damage, yes. :) And what was sort of funny was
my dentist's son had graduated from dental college and joined the
practice so I was one of his first patients. Poor guy had a bit of
'trial by fire' as I have a gag reflex, the molar is in the back
(obviously) where things are a little more sensitive, so the working

If you look at which President was friendly to Israel, it was Truman
who made the US the first country to recognize Israel's right to exist
back in 1948. During the Yom Kippur War in 1972 (I think), Nixon (while apparently not overly fond of the Jews) did authorize an airlift there.
But, Trump has done more for Israel than any other president that I can

not obsessed) with the "trying to figure out's": was it really an
accurate prediction or did it become accurate because in hindsight
people created a 'valid link'. Thinking of how the destruction of the
Twin Towers was possibly foretold by Nostradamus: did he really do a
cystal ball vision or are we creating a connection?

Well, one could, just usually leads to bad results! As for 'black' or 'white' themes. for me it "sorta depends". While BBSing my read mode
is a medium blue background and I think black text. Reply mode is
black background with a light-light gray text. The XP terminal screen
is also light gray on black -- maybe default, I don't recall it's been
so long since I fiddled with that. On the Linux side I use a darker destop background; writing (LibreOffice) it's paper white background
and black text. The Terminal window had a dark black background -- it isn't as black as Windows'. OTOH Xmessage is a light gray background
    with black text.
With the background of the WinDates program being white, I have
to use dark colors for the event reminders. I can change the
colors in MultiMail, but haven't attempted that yet. It was
easier to change color themes in OLX.

Hence the popularity of defaults! <g>

We watch some of the 'cop shows' and some of the requests/orders appear
to be impossible: "GIMME YOUR HAND!!" Well the guy's hand is under his body, there are three officers on top -- can't move much less present
the hand.... (And to be somewhat fair some just plain don't attempt to comply.)
Even some of the "wrestling" is fake.

Noooooooo!!! <g> Dad and I used to watch roller derby during work
breaks. Sometimes could see the "I'm waiting for you to get into
position so I can smash you like we planned!".

Nancy Backus could teach you and me a few things. <G>
I wonder where she is? She did say she had been unusually busy.
    It does seem she isn't REP-lying very QWK-ly. <G>
Just for that you're required to use a 1200 baud modem for the rest of
    the week.
    It'll be 0 baud...offline for thunderstorms.

    Sneaky!
