True! And good to know a lot of others are having the same problem,
which hopefully will also lead to the manufacturers of the Redmere
cables and/or the HDMI video switches to fix the problem.
    One can hope, anyway.... :)
I couldn't remember why I bought the Redmere (amplified) cables in the
    first place; only longish run is in the Living Room and that's fine;
up here in the Computer Room from the test/working-on area to the
Computer Desk is a little longer and that probably was OK, or at least
is now. Maybe bought an amplifed cable to prevent a problem but created
one. Possibly I had patched together a couple of short cables I had on
hand, decided to do it right and read long cable can create signal
issues so decided on the amplifed cable. Oh well.
    All history now... <G>
Pretty much. Suppose the Good News is did learn the amplified Redmere cables are good for long distances as long as not into a switch, need
    to be connected directly.

Now you know... :) And don't need to toss them, just use in an
application where it would be called for... ;)

Right. The cables work fine, just not with a switch. No reason to
toss; not sure where I would be using them in the future but have them
(IIRC just two) for some to be determined use.

Some day you'll have the proper use for them... ;)

(Oddly that single line comment seems familiar.)

Yes, the cables will not be thrown out/recycled but stored in the box
with the spares. If for some reason do need to use where a switch is installed just have to do it the hard way and use a coupler (F-F
adapter) to bypass the switch until the proper cable arrives.
