    Barry,

I would say so. I saw some on some luncheon meat that was still
sealed in its original package...so, I threw it out.

Unfortunately, but yes, the right thing to do.

I'm a stickler for product expiration dates. In a lot of these Food
Banks, much of the stuff there is long since expired, so I don't take
part in any of these. My former employer died about a year before my
Mom did...and I made a monetary donation to the church's Food Pantry
    in both their memories.

There are at least three date options on food: think they're "Sell By",
"Best By" and probably plain ol' "Expires". IIRC "Expires" usually
meand one doens't want to eat it after that date (unless frozen). "Sell
By" usually means isi usually good for a week or so after the date, like
milk. "Best By" is usually dry groceries like cake mixes: no problems
with being consumed after that date, just the cake might not rise or
have the full intensity of the flavouring.

As for purchasing, if someone is uncomfortable with seeing a date passed
I have no problems with them passing it up.

You need to just do like the meme showing the regular seats at
Taco Bell were replaced with toilets. Of course, you have to drop
your pants and underwear before you sit down. :P

If I remember right from the Popeye Movie, the late Robin Williams played Popeye...the late Ray Walston played Poopdeck Pappy...and Shelly Duval
played Olive. I don't remember the rest of the cast offhand.
