Well, one could just say batter fried steak... ;)
Now, I've got a hankering to go out to the local Golden Corral, and
see what I can rustle up. <G>
They're now doing "cafeteria style", instead of "buffet"...but, at
least it's still "all you can eat".
While eating out does cost money in transportation and the meal, it
saves food at the house, for when you're stuck at home for a time (as
I was this past week after the surgery).

I need to have a colonoscopy done - no rush, just slightly overdue on
the five-year. [snip]
I suppose an exploratory call (are you open yet?) might be in order,
especially as you are overdue... ;) Given the special circumstances,
though, they might be reaching out to you once they open... I'd not
wait on that, if it were myself, though... :)
No, I won't wait for a phone call nor post card reminder. Will wait a
bit to 'avoid the rush' but of course don't want to procrastinate too
long.
If you call, worst case probably would be "no, we aren't open for thatAnd now probably open with the social distancing. Right now a bunch
yet", but then they'll know that you are wanting to know as soon as
they do open... :)
of But Firsts have lined up.... Though what's new?!
They're reopening next Monday (May 18th), though "no new fittings for
contact lenses through the month of June". The e-mail also included
several new rules including temperature reading on entering, multiple
hand cleanings as move from section to section, masks, spacing of
appointments to minimize contact with out patients.
Last I heard here, it's still just curbside delivery of glasses, no
fittings.... a friend at church is an optician....
The latest e-mail stated they were opening with restrictions: contact
lens (because touching the eye) not to restart until June, though as I
write this that's only two weeks away.
And now we are in June.....Did get an e-mail reminder I was overdue for a checkup -- But First!
Haven't heard anything definite from any of my doctors lately... butSo now appointments of that kind will be delayed until Fall when the weather cools off and the driver doesn't get roasted! There is air conditioning in cars but noticed gas prices rising.
a friend that recently had a retina check, and then outpatient surgery
to put a stent in her leg, reported that in both cases she had to wait
in the car until they were ready for her... in the latter case, her
friend/driver had to wait out in the car and they called him when she
was coming out so that he could meet her at the door of the facility...
... Why is it called chicken fried steak if it's BEEF?
Steak means it's beef.... the chicken fried is just the method,
of course... the batter/breading you'd use on chicken pieces to
fry them... But you probably knew that already... ;)
Yes, plus "beef fried steak" sounds even sillier!
Well, one could just say batter fried steak... ;)Somehow dons't sound as appetizing!

I know they do steaks, do they also do the chicken fried steaks...?
I don't think our local one has even opened up at all... maybe they
gave up on our area...
And it gives one a break from having to fix the meals at home, too...
and more variety as well... :)

I guess it depends on what they're offering that day. Some cafeteria
style restaurants only offer turkey and dressing on Thursday...and
that might be the same thing with chicken fried steak.
Locally, years ago, a Cracker Barrel, did boneless pork chops on Monday night, but that was discontinued long ago. Speaking of which, Arby's discontinued the one item I preferred on their menu...their Grand
Turkey Club...I was so disappointed.

In some areas, COVID-19 is far worse than others.
And it gives one a break from having to fix the meals at home, too...
and more variety as well... :)
If I have to run errands, with a lot of driving...and considering my
main meal is lunch, it's just easier to grab something out.

Possible... :)

Sigh.... That happens all the time....
