    Barry,

Sounds like the smart thing to do to me! It's not going to hurt
anything to wear the girdle thing if your don't need it; it's
definitely doing to hurt if you do!

The surgeon said I can wash that, and should wear it when doing
anything heavy, or for support. Of course, when lying down, or
"fighting the cat for the litterbox", I take it off.

Or the elephants asking "how do you breathe through that thing?".
Or like the guy saying "I have an elephant in my pants...want
    to see the trunk??". :P

Must be a baby: not full grown!

LOL!! I needed that!! But, in the cold of winter, it seems that way.

Support and safety is good. If weak enough originally to tear there
might be another weakened area, so don't want to aggrivate.

There apparently were defective hernia mesh deals years ago...I keep
hearing commercials on such, where "call our law firm if you used this product...you may be entitled to compensation".

I don't know what I would do -- probably connect with a class action
group settlement. Good news is nothing even close to a hernia mesh
needed, using talcum powder, etc. Over the decades have received small settlement checks -- one was for something the State of Iowa and other
states was sueing Microsoft for over-pricing software -- I did qualify
for a few items. Got a small check last year or maybe the year before
for some Starkist Tuna Fish class action result. I don't go looking for
    them.

And as long as it's nothing like in the pathology texts you're OK.
