    Daryl hopes to have his umbilical hernia resolved in a few weeks;
And that will be good... :)
Yes, not sure of his degree, just I know in general it's not good in
general when "one spills their guts", especially if the part becomes
    strangulated.
I've had an umbilical hernia... fixed, as well... didn't get to the
    strangulated stage, thankfully....
Thankfully! That would not have been at all good!

    Indeed.

I need to have a colonoscopy done - no rush, just slightly overdue on
the five-year. At this point Scott County is still 'closed' so not
    considering.
I'm sure your GI's office will be calling to schedule once things
start to open up.... Meanwhile, I just got a call from mine, that the
rescheduled appt for June 8 needed to be pushed farther out, to July
15... at least I'm not overdue on my next colonoscopy yet... :)
I received a reminder card last Fall so might not be getting anything
further; will call to schedule a short while after things re-open
    here.
I suppose an exploratory call (are you open yet?) might be in order,
especially as you are overdue... ;) Given the special circumstances,
though, they might be reaching out to you once they open... I'd not
wait on that, if it were myself, though... :)
No, I won't wait for a phone call nor post card reminder. Will wait a
bit to 'avoid the rush' but of course don't want to procrastinate too long.

If you call, worst case probably would be "no, we aren't open for that
yet", but then they'll know that you are wanting to know as soon as they
    do open... :)

    Today is May 5th -- I don't recall getting a 'for-certain' e-mail from
them last week. Do need to have the left contact lens/eye checked --
    again that's not a must-do-now thing.
Now that it's May 11th, have you heard anything from them...? I
still haven't checked on my doctor's office....
They're reopening next Monday (May 18th), though "no new fittings for
contact lenses through the month of June". The e-mail also included
several new rules including temperature reading on entering, multiple
hand cleanings as move from section to section, masks, spacing of
appointments to minimize contact with out patients.
Last I heard here, it's still just curbside delivery of glasses, no
fittings.... a friend at church is an optician....
The latest e-mail stated they were opening with restrictions: contact
lens (because touching the eye) not to restart until June, though as I write this that's only two weeks away.

And now we are in June.....

Appointments spaced to minimize contact (not the lens kind!), wash/
clean hands as move from area to area, temperature checks, any persons accompanying the patient not allowed in unless required: parent with child, patient requires assistance, etc. Friend goes to the same
medical doctor as I and similar standards.

Haven't heard anything definite from any of my doctors lately... but a
friend that recently had a retina check, and then outpatient surgery to
put a stent in her leg, reported that in both cases she had to wait in
the car until they were ready for her... in the latter case, her
friend/driver had to wait out in the car ansd they called him when she
was coming out so that he could meet her at the door of the facility...

... Why is it called chicken fried steak if it's BEEF?
Steak means it's beef.... the chicken fried is just the method,
of course... the batter/breading you'd use on chicken pieces to
fry them... But you probably knew that already... ;)
Yes, plus "beef fried steak" sounds even sillier!

Well, one could just say batter fried steak... ;)

    Nancy,

Well, one could just say batter fried steak... ;)

Now, I've got a hankering to go out to the local Golden Corral, and
see what I can rustle up. <G>

They're now doing "cafeteria style", instead of "buffet"...but, at
least it's still "all you can eat".

While eating out does cost money in transportation and the meal, it
saves food at the house, for when you're stuck at home for a time (as
I was this past week after the surgery).

The restaurants have supposedly gone to Phase 2 today...not sure if I want
to dine in, or just get it at the drive thru.

Did get an e-mail reminder I was overdue for a checkup -- But First!

I had to call to see if I needed a COVID-19 screening 2 days before I see
the hernia surgeon for a follow-up on Wednesday...but they said, they'll just take my temperature (forehead scan), and ask me some questions. Good thing
they didn't require it via rectal thermometers. :P

So now appointments of that kind will be delayed until Fall when the weather cools off and the driver doesn't get roasted! There is air conditioning in cars but noticed gas prices rising.

It was up to $1.75 a gallon for regular here last Friday...I didn't go out this past weekend.

I'm thinking drive-through: you don't have to get out of (and later in
to) the car, potentially straining your sutures. Here the restaurants
are at 50% capacity so table space is limited; lots of people are
chomping at the bit to eat out, so a higher demand for limited seating
    spaces.

Last Thursday one station was $1.99 and the station across the street (literally) was $2.09. Guessing most of the increase is due to
switching over to the summer gas formula.

Obvious answer is to put a t-shirt or something between the skin and the fastener. Keeping in place can be a different problem.
