Hi Folks!
Received from Daryl:
Subject: BBS Update
Good News And Bad News:
The bad news is that the 64-bit processor won't allow installation of a
32-bit OS. Second, thunderstorms forecast overnight through at least
Friday, will prevent any computer work. We're under a Flash Flood
Watch through at least Wednesday night. My NOAA Weather Radio alarm,
and the storms, meant for a restless night last night, and the next
few nights will be likewise.
The good news is that I was able to get the USB drive with a backup that
I made a month ago. I brought it home earlier today, and just finished restoring ALL the data related to the BBS. Even if it's 5 weeks old,
it's better than nothing...it's new home will be on my late Mom's
computer. But, I have to set up the scheduled events again. They are
going to refund me the cost of the proposed system...although I'll be
"out" the cost of the Windows 10 32-bit OS.
Then, next week, I'm undergoing outpatient laparoscopic hernia surgery, providing I pass a COVID-19 test on June 2. I won't be able to drive or
do heavy lifting for a week, but I can work at the computer, and move
around the house.
I am hoping to have the BBS back up by June 1, but it'll depend on how
soon I can get everything reset, and weather concerns. But, at least my "retirement" won't be "permanent"...as ALL the data from 5 weeks ago
(the last time I was able to do a backup before the power supply and UPS failed), was saved.
