From Barry Martin@454:1/1 to Nancy Backus on Wed Apr 22 07:45:00 2020

    Hi Nancy!

Got interrupted last night with what turned out to be a long call...
That sounds like a "But First"!
One could say that... ;) With everyone in isolation of one sort or
another, seems there are more of those long calls, too.... It's good
to be in contact, though... :)
True: one doesn't realize how much communication is done just through pass-by contacts! Now all those pent-up mini-conversations burst
    through!
And they might not normally have been directed all to that
person, but with other contacts cut off, there's more need to
talk... ;) My one sister has a habit of multitasking with phone
calls... used to was, she'd call while she was in transit between
places, now she calls while she's busy sewing up face masks...
one can hear the whirring of the machine in the background... ;)

Some people can do need to do some other task while talking on the phone (don't do videochat!), others need to sit and only talk. At the
apartment I would start sitting and then start slowly pacing. It helped
the phone had a realllly long coil-cord!

Some supplements can be helpful in boosting one's immune system, in
    one way or another... :)
True, though may be skewed: someone taking supplements is probably
more likely to eat healthier, and do healthier activities including washing hands, which would help stay healthy. I do take a small assortment of supplements, seem to help which is good enough for me.
It still depends on the person... I've known some that take loads
of supplements and then expect that alone to keep them healthy...
    ;)

The overall base diet needs to be decent; supplements are just that: supplemental and not primary. And some may help with disease control:
when I broke my femur they found my blood serum Vitamin D was low so
said I needed to take supplements; a couple/few years later I had too
much floating through so told to stop the Vit D specific but continue
with the 'with D' (such as Calcium with D as opposed to just Calcium).

I will admit to bringing hand sanitizer with me (and using it!) when I
go out lately. (That activity highly curtailed.) Rarely used it until
now as didn't feel a need to. Now - just a little extra layer of
protection. BTW I did find some time back hand sanitizer makes a
pretty good remover for ink jet printer ink spills!
Hmmm... that almost sounds like an argument against using it on one's
sensitive hands... <G> Just like suggesting one not drink CocaCola
judging on its ability to peel paint off a car... ;)
I thought it was rust but the concept is the same. :) My guess is
the hand sanitizer's alcohol broke down the ink in a way water or
    window cleaner did not.
Yeah, maybe it was rust... right, same difference... <G> But I
thought that window cleaner might have had some alcohol in it,
too... well, ammonia and/or vinegar for sure... but it's supposed
to cut grease as well as grime, so I'd think it would be more
like the hand sanitizer than water anyway....

Either the brand of window cleaner had at the time didn't have too much
of the grease-cutting agent/s or was the wrong type for ink.

...Looking at a label: "stop and ask a doctor
if skin irritation develops". Gee, I wonder what I would be told?!
Apparently, that you were allergic to one or more of the
ingredients in the hand sanitizer... My skin can't take much of
the sanitizer, actually... so I'm not using much of it even
though it's put out everywhere now....

I very rarely use any hand sanitizer that has been set out for general
use: either have done where I haven't touched anything or have seen
where it has just been cleaned.

I think I'll wait to get the Shingrex now until COVID-19 is died
down... don't want to overtax the immune system right now... :)
I would probably wait also. My second part is coming up the end of
the month; will ask the pharmacist's advice. (Starting is different
    from continuing.)
Perhaps.... but definitely would check on the advisability of the
timing.... possible that the pharmacy would just as soon postpone to
later in the effective period, given the pandemic situation...
I'm thinking yes, though will ask: I have a prescription to pick up in
I think two weeks which is the the first week of my two to six months.
At least you have a good window still for it... :)

Yes. As I said in an earlier message, the Pharmacy is not doing any
shots currently unless absolutely required; if someone was near the end
of their six month period they would receive their second shot but those
of us with plenty of time will be delayed. The Pharmacy Tech said the earliest would be May 1st but she also indicated probably another
several weeks after that; still plenty of time on my schedule.

Will ask and do some on-line checking; probably put a note in my
calendar to inquire in four or five years -- what is said now may
    not be accurate later.
And you might be conflating with the older vaccine, too....
True. May be if the patient had the Zostavax plus Shingrix at certain
ages does one thing or 'early Shingrix' (before they ran out) has one
rule and 'new Shingrix' (the one currently) has a different rule
because of the way it was produced.
    Lots of variables...
So this thread will be continued in five years!!
Or at least picked up again... <G>

The Thread That Would Not Die!!

As I think I said in an interim message did buy gas and the vendor had
been unable to come up with a supply, though is still trying.
Right... I did see that... :) Like I've been saying, quite possible
you were a test market for the coffee-flavored M&Ms, and now you'll
just have to wait until they decide to bring them out for real... or
never see them again, when they decide not to do so... ;/
Too bad I don't need something inexpensive at Amazon: combine that purchase with the ones I had seen there! ...Wonder if still
    available?!
Maybe... but quite possibly not.... unless they happened to still
have some of a stock left over...

I need to check again; did buy some HDMI cables from Amazon (better deal
than eBay for what I wanted) -- bought four at $25.99. Needed one,
wanted at least one spare, so that was two and possibly three. Another
spare was stretching that a bit but getting over the #25 for free
    shipping helped the decision!

And sort of a follow-up on that topic in the next message to ALL.

Yes, I almost always need to concentrate on the conversation going on,
though I will admit sometimes portions aren't that interesting and a
game of Solitaire is popped up.

At the apartment I would start sitting and then start slowly pacing.
It helped the phone had a realllly long coil-cord!
I've been known to do that.... haven't lately, though... And even

I don't know if I could afford one back then! When I first moved in I
think it was still illegal or at least not allowed for people to work
on their own phone lines. The phone in the apartment was hardwired. At
the time answering machines had a mechanical contraption to lift the
    headset to answer the call.

Some supplements can be helpful in boosting one's immune system, in

Hmmm: making a note on the celery seed and gout. I don't have problems
but don't recall that usage. As for calcium, I take the old-fashioned
pill, though one looks like a mispackaged suppository!! Very elongated
oval! Is the 'softgel' version which I accidentally picked up.
    Admittedly goes down easily! :)

I do, though, sanitize the cart handles and such as I get it at
the entrance to the store.... either with the wipes they have
available or the hand sanitizer with a paper towel... whichever

I would do the same except I get the cart from the cart corral in the
parking lot and bring it in. Combination of helping by bringing in a
cart I'm going to use anyway, the small cart which I prefer isn't always available in the vestibule (all in use or outside), and when walking in
winter through slush, etc., the cart helps steady me.

Wegmans may not have known, or decided not to give a date as too many

My one sister has a habit of multitasking with phone calls... used

calls while she's busy sewing up face masks... one can hear the
whirring of the machine in the background... ;)

Yup... when the caller is nattering on and on on the same thing.... ;)

At the apartment I would start sitting and then start slowly pacing.

I've been known to do that.... haven't lately, though... And even

At the time answering machines had a mechanical contraption to lift the headset to answer the call.

Cordless phones might not have been available back then either... The
corded phone on the kitchen wall has had a extra-long coilcord for most
of the time we've been living here... we'd worn out a couple coilcords
already before we got our first cordless phone... ;)

Some supplements can be helpful in boosting one's immune system, in
    one way or another... :)
True, though may be skewed: someone taking supplements is probably
more likely to eat healthier, and do healthier activities including
washing hands, which would help stay healthy. I do take a small
assortment of supplements, seem to help which is good enough for me.
It still depends on the person... I've known some that take loads of
supplements and then expect that alone to keep them healthy... ;)
The overall base diet needs to be decent; supplements are just that:
supplemental and not primary.
I use celery seed instead of gout medications, and cinnamon in various
forms (one also has vit D added) to help control blood sugars... for
my bones I'm taking a calcium chew which has added vit D and K... also
a magnesium supplement as my levels were low... all doctor approved
    and/or suggested...
Hmmm: making a note on the celery seed and gout. I don't have
problems but don't recall that usage.

It's one of a good list of foods and herbs/spices that could be helpful
to combat gout, which also includes cherries... one can eat 4 ribs of
celery a day instead of taking the usual medication (allopurinol) and
get the same results... or one can get it more efficiently with celery
seed extract capsules... ;) So I take the capsules daily and also use
celery a lot in cooking... :)

As for calcium, I take the old-fashioned pill, though one looks like
a mispackaged suppository!! Very elongated oval! Is the 'softgel' version which I accidentally picked up. Admittedly goes down easily! :)

Never have seen or tried the softgel version, but the regular pill
didn't seem to work that well for me besides being more of a pain to swallow.... so I've just used the chews, which have worked well for my assimilation of the calcium...

I do, though, sanitize the cart handles and such as I get it at the
entrance to the store.... either with the wipes they have available
or the hand sanitizer with a paper towel... whichever is there...
I would do the same except I get the cart from the cart corral in the parking lot and bring it in. Combination of helping by bringing in a

All good reasons... ;) If I grabbed a cart from outside, I'd be careful
not to touch it much with bare hands, and grab a wipe as I go inside to
wipe it down... ;) I've noticed, also, that when the "Helping Hands"
people are bringing in the carts, they're wiping down the cart handles
just before pushing the line of carts into the store....

Yes. As I said in an earlier message, the Pharmacy is not doing any
shots currently unless absolutely required; if someone was near the
end of their six month period they would receive their second shot but
those of us with plenty of time will be delayed. The Pharmacy Tech
said the earliest would be May 1st but she also indicated probably
another several weeks after that; still plenty of time on my schedule.
Makes plenty of sense... and as I said (probably in response to your
earlier message), when I asked here, I got a similar response, but
without any estimate of when they expect to do shots regularly again...
Wegmans may not have known, or decided not to give a date as too many people heard "May 5" instead of "hopefully starting May 5". Plus
you're New York and I'm Iowa and there are different state regulations. Both of us will just continue the periodic casual asking.

Yes, mostly I think that there are just too many unknowns yet to even
guess at when things will happen here... and yes, we'll just keep asking
    every so often... ;)

There are a lot of those, actually... <G>
Some have been strung along so long they're becoming ropes! (I
couldn't figure out how to use 'string' reasonably properly so had to
    go with the past tense.)

Could have said something like, String it along long enough and it'll
    become a rope... <G>

Right... I did see that... :) Like I've been saying, quite possible
you were a test market for the coffee-flavored M&Ms, and now you'll
just have to wait until they decide to bring them out for real... or
never see them again, when they decide not to do so... ;/
Too bad I don't need something inexpensive at Amazon: combine that
purchase with the ones I had seen there! ...Wonder if still
    available?!
Maybe... but quite possibly not.... unless they happened to still
have some of a stock left over...
I need to check again; did buy some HDMI cables from Amazon (better
deal than eBay for what I wanted) -- bought four at $25.99. Needed
one, wanted at least one spare, so that was two and possibly three.
Another spare was stretching that a bit but getting over the #25 for
    free shipping helped the decision!
And you didn't get the coffee-flavored M&Ms at the same time...?
I'm guessing that when you do click on them (if still appearing,
anyway) that they'll be unavailable after all....
Need to check Amazon again - was on last night to order another
Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB) kit -- didn't need anything to get me to the free shipping! At Hy-Vee yesterday did pick up a bag of Fudge Brownie flavoured M&Ms -- haven't had any yet.

Haven't seen those here yet.... I bet you are a test market for M&Ms...

    Hi Nancy!

My one sister has a habit of multitasking with phone calls... used
to be, she'd call while she was in transit between places, now she
calls while she's busy sewing up face masks... one can hear the
whirring of the machine in the background... ;)
Some people can do need to do some other task while talking on the
phone (don't do videochat!), others need to sit and only talk.
Depending on the call, sometimes I can do something else besides just
talk (once in a while, I'll get started on doing a bbs run when a call
is running late; sometimes I'll be sitting doing solitaire), but
usually, I need to focus on just the call...
Yes, I almost always need to concentrate on the conversation going on, though I will admit sometimes portions aren't that interesting and a
game of Solitaire is popped up.
Yup... when the caller is nattering on and on on the same
    thing.... ;)

That's when one sets up a random utterance generator: randomly
sythensizes "uh-huh", "really?". "huh!" when one goes to the bathroom,
    makes a sandwich, .... <g>

At the apartment I would start sitting and then start slowly pacing.
It helped the phone had a realllly long coil-cord!
I've been known to do that.... haven't lately, though... And even
better than a really long coil-cord is a cordless handset... <G>
I don't know if I could afford one back then! When I first moved in I think it was still illegal or at least not allowed for people to work
on their own phone lines. The phone in the apartment was hardwired.
At the time answering machines had a mechanical contraption to lift the headset to answer the call.
Cordless phones might not have been available back then either...
The corded phone on the kitchen wall has had a extra-long
coilcord for most of the time we've been living here... we'd worn
out a couple coilcords already before we got our first cordless
    phone... ;)

Yes, I don't recall when cordless phones became generally available
either. Had to be after the public was allowed to plug equipment in -
    so late 70's?

Some supplements can be helpful in boosting one's immune system, in
    one way or another... :)
True, though may be skewed: someone taking supplements is probably
more likely to eat healthier, and do healthier activities including
washing hands, which would help stay healthy. I do take a small
assortment of supplements, seem to help which is good enough for me.
It still depends on the person... I've known some that take loads of
supplements and then expect that alone to keep them healthy... ;)
The overall base diet needs to be decent; supplements are just that:
supplemental and not primary.
It's one of a good list of foods and herbs/spices that could be
helpful to combat gout, which also includes cherries... one can
eat 4 ribs of celery a day instead of taking the usual medication (allopurinol) and get the same results... or one can get it more efficiently with celery seed extract capsules... ;) So I take
the capsules daily and also use celery a lot in cooking... :)

Seems the best of both worlds: concentrated extract so easier to consume
the greater amount needed, plus from the natural source because who
knows what trace amounts of other nutients is found in the natural
    source.

As for calcium, I take the old-fashioned pill, though one looks like
a mispackaged suppository!! Very elongated oval! Is the 'softgel' version which I accidentally picked up. Admittedly goes down easily! :)
Never have seen or tried the softgel version, but the regular
pill didn't seem to work that well for me besides being more of a
pain to swallow.... so I've just used the chews, which have
worked well for my assimilation of the calcium...

As long as it works. I generally have no problems swallowing pills,
though the tiny ones sometimes don't want to go down (follow up with a
large one - so much for than problem!). As for the chews, never really
needed here but glad they're available for you.

I do, though, sanitize the cart handles and such as I get it at the
entrance to the store.... either with the wipes they have available
or the hand sanitizer with a paper towel... whichever is there...
I would do the same except I get the cart from the cart corral in the parking lot and bring it in. Combination of helping by bringing in a
cart I'm going to use anyway, the small cart which I prefer isn't
always available in the vestibule (all in use or outside), and when walking in winter through slush, etc., the cart helps steady me.
All good reasons... ;) If I grabbed a cart from outside, I'd be

Good on the wipe-down. One problem with gloves is most people don't
remove them properly, so ending up touching a potentially contaminated
    surface anyway.

Maybe! The Fudge Brownie M&M's were a good news/bad news type of thing:
they did taste like a decent fudge brownie, not sugary sweet like some
of the boxed and individually packaged ones (I'm thinking "Little
Debbie" but don't know if they have such a thing in their assortment).
The bad news -- not really 'bad news' but both of us thought was good
for a one-shot purchase, not like the coffee-flarvoured ones which were
a repeat occasional buy. I'd recommend the Fudge Brownie flavour as a 'something a little different'.

when the one important question gets asked....

Or one important detail that gets told.

At the apartment I would start sitting and then start slowly pacing.

    so late 70's?
    Or maybe early 80's.... :)

Either a possibility based on events I'm recalling, and unfortunately
vague: because so long ago and also semi-non-specific: I lived at the apartment complex almost ten years, one of the people I did a little
phone work for lived there before the complex officially opened -- he
had a little business selling something like 'Grace' -- as I recall
mostly cleaning products. So he had an early answering machine - the mechanicla kind that lifted the receiver. Switched to the plug-in kind
but it didn't work. Exchanged, still didn't work. Asked me if I could
take a look at it - sure. Ended up whoever did the jack wiring didn't
"flip": the Living Room and his bedroom where he had the answering
machine were back-to back, so the "left" of the Living Room jack was
wired to the "left" of the Bedroom - should have been to the right. A
quick test (I had a telephone line tester), approval from him to correct
the wiring, ta-daa!! Very simple for me, very complex for him. I doubt
if I even charged him for the job -- quite sure he paid me in food or something.

Hmmm: making a note on the celery seed and gout. I don't have

Yes, though I have the minor concern of excess building up so for years
I've not taken supplements on weekends. A break in the routine,
possible a digestive vacation. Haven't seen anything scientific to
support the consideration, just something I do.

As for calcium, I take the old-fashioned pill, though one looks like
a mispackaged suppository!! Very elongated oval! Is the 'softgel'
version which I accidentally picked up. Admittedly goes down easily! :)
Never have seen or tried the softgel version, but the regular pilly
didn't seem to work that well for me besides being more of a pain to
swallow.... so I've just used the chews, which have worked well for my
    assimilation of the calcium...
As long as it works. I generally have no problems swallowing pills, though the tiny ones sometimes don't want to go down (follow up with a large one - so much for than problem!). As for the chews, never
really needed here but glad they're available for you.
I'm ok with most pills, but the calcium ones seemed to stick for
me... and like iron pill supplements, my body had trouble getting

Anyone want to do the joke on why the iron pill is sticking?!

As for the calcium pill sticking, I've had the occasional issue -- maybe
the shape? Mine are a like a small rectangular box -- corners are well-rounded but a hare blocky.

them working nicely... Iron also makes me constipated,
immediately and without quick relief, so I have to get my iron by infusion... so regular bloodwork and visits to a hematologist,
but when the anemia starts to get bad again, I get the infusion
and everything settles back in again... ;)

I have heard of other people getting constipation with iron supplements.

I do, though, sanitize the cart handles and such as I get it at the
entrance to the store.... either with the wipes they have available
or the hand sanitizer with a paper towel... whichever is there...
I would do the same except I get the cart from the cart corral in the
parking lot and bring it in. Combination of helping by bringing in a
cart I'm going to use anyway, the small cart which I prefer isn't
always available in the vestibule (all in use or outside), and when
walking in winter through slush, etc., the cart helps steady me.
All good reasons... ;) If I grabbed a cart from outside, I'd be
careful not to touch it much with bare hands, and grab a wipe as I go
inside to wipe it down... I've noticed, also, that when the "Helping
Hands" people are bringing in the carts, they're wiping down the cart
handles just before pushing the line of carts into the store....
Good on the wipe-down. One problem with gloves is most people don't remove them properly, so ending up touching a potentially contaminated surface anyway.
I rarely am using gloves... I'm just using my sleeve covered arms
    for the short-term...

Same issue with the potential of transferring but probably a better
option than wearing gloves. ...A little surprised haven't seen little
tiny Kleenexes: maybe 2x2" tissue for when need to open a pull handle on
a door, etc.: use and dispose of in a nearby trash can.

Makes plenty of sense... and as I said (probably in response to your
earlier message), when I asked here, I got a similar response, but
without any estimate of when they expect to do shots regularly again...
Wegmans may not have known, or decided not to give a date as too many
people heard "May 5" instead of "hopefully starting May 5". Plus
you're New York and I'm Iowa and there are different state regulations.
Both of us will just continue the periodic casual asking.
Yes, mostly I think that there are just too many unknowns yet to even
guess at when things will happen here... and yes, we'll just keep
    asking every so often... ;)
There was a sheet included with my paperwork when I picked up my prescriptions yesterday indicating my second Shringrix shot was due.
Was auto-generated; I didn't see it until I got home but will ask in
the near future when they want to give the second shot. Right now Iowa/Scott County is still under restrictions; I have no reason to accelerate getting the shot.
Just keep that auto-generated reminder... it lets you know when
the effective period began, so you'll know when you are reaching
near the end of the 6 months, if the second shot hasn't happened
    in the meantime.

Right - have kept for another reminder: first was a hand-written note of
when I could ask about getting the second shot and the 'expiration'
    date (the six month).

At Hy-Vee yesterday did pick up a bag of Fudge Brownie flavoured M&Ms
    -- haven't had any yet.
Haven't seen those here yet... I bet you are a test market for M&Ms...
Maybe! The Fudge Brownie M&M's were a good news/bad news type of
thing: they did taste like a decent fudge brownie, not sugary sweet
like some of the boxed and individually packaged ones (I'm thinking "Little Debbie" but don't know if they have such a thing in their assortment). The bad news -- not really 'bad news' but both of us
thought was good for a one-shot purchase, not like the
coffee-flavoured ones which were a repeat occasional buy. I'd
recommend the Fudge Brownie flavour as a 'something a little
    different'.
So, good enough to finish the package... but not good enough to
buy again... :) Sounds mostly like a riff on the Dark Chocolate
    M&Ms, though... ;)

Similar flavour those as I recall the Fudge Brownie M&Ms had a more
chocolate flavour and the Dark Chocolate ones were sweet-ish. Fudge
Brownie ones were also a cakier texture, so brownie-like, and I think
the Dark Chocolate ones more traditional M&Ms candy. ...No candy this
week; semi-splurged on a giant muffin sale. One a four-pack of "Double
Dutch Chocolate" and the other a four pack of -- came up on the receipt
as "BLBRY" so probably blueberry though I don't recall getting
blueberry, nor blackberry. Thought I got a Snickerdoodle, or at least
was considering. Guess will be a surprise! Did have a Double Dutch
Chocolate one last night -- goooood!! Tasted like it had a billion
    calories!

    Hi Nancy!

Yes, I don't recall when cordless phones became generally available
either. Had to be after the public was allowed to plug equipment in -
    so late 70's?
    Or maybe early 80's.... :)
Either a possibility based on events I'm recalling, and unfortunately vague: because so long ago and also semi-non-specific: I lived at the apartment complex almost ten years, one of the people I did a little
phone work for lived there before the complex officially opened -- he
had a little business selling something like 'Grace' -- as I recall
mostly cleaning products. So he had an early answering machine - the mechanical kind that lifted the receiver. Switched to the plug-in
kind but it didn't work. Exchanged, still didn't work. Asked me if I could take a look at it - sure. Ended up whoever did the jack wiring didn't "flip": the Living Room and his bedroom where he had the
answering machine were back-to back, so the "left" of the Living Room
jack was wired to the "left" of the Bedroom - should have been to the right. A quick test (I had a telephone line tester), approval from him
to correct the wiring, ta-daa!! Very simple for me, very complex for
him. I doubt if I even charged him for the job -- quite sure he paid
    me in food or something.
It always helps when one has a clue... and the right tools... ;)
I'm sure he was properly grateful for the fix... :)

    He was. :)

Hmmm: making a note on the celery seed and gout. I don't have
problems but don't recall that usage.
It's one of a good list of foods and herbs/spices that could be
helpful to combat gout, which also includes cherries... one can eat
4 ribs of celery a day instead of taking the usual medication
(allopurinol) and get the same results... or one can get it more
efficiently with celery seed extract capsules... ;) So I take the
capsules daily and also use celery a lot in cooking... :)
Seems the best of both worlds: concentrated extract so easier to
consume the greater amount needed, plus from the natural source because
who knows what trace amounts of other nutrients is found in the natural
    source.
Exactly... and by taking the daily supplement, there's always a
fairly regular amount being ingested, to be supplemented by the less
regular eating of the whole food... :)
Yes, though I have the minor concern of excess building up so for
years I've not taken supplements on weekends. A break in the routine, possible a digestive vacation. Haven't seen anything scientific to support the consideration, just something I do.
For most things it wouldn't be an issue anyway... but I don't
know if it's necessarily helpful to take the break from them...

I think it's more psychological: not that I pig-out or otherwise go wild
eating on the weekends but more of a break, "anti-splurge".

No, the iron wasn't sticking, it just was causing problems... no
    magnetic personality here... <G>

Well, not that kind of magnetism! :)

I wil admit to trying a magnet to my leg some time after the rod was put
in and semi-healed. Didn't expect it to stick but was slightly
disappointed when it didn't at least pause before falling.

As for the calcium pill sticking, I've had the occasional issue --
maybe the shape? Mine are a like a small rectangular box -- corners
are well-rounded but a hare blocky.
It might have been the chalky surface... or possibly the shape as
well... it was a long time ago that I tried them... I've been
using the chews for years... :)

Could also be how slick the esophagus was at the time too, maybe angle
of ingestion. Problems swallowing are rare enough for me not to
consider a change; always good to know alternatives are available should
    they be necessary.

and like iron pill supplements, my body had trouble getting them
working nicely... Iron also makes me constipated, immediately and

I have heard of other people getting constipation with iron
    supplements.
I'd heard of others, also... but none quite so dramatically as
mine... one iron pill would bind me up, and I'd take the colace
for two days to get things moving again... no way was I going to
be able to get any benefit from that supplement...!

In your case the disadvantage greatly outweighed the benefit!

Same issue with the potential of transferring but probably a better

Even bare arms (now that it's gotten hot) are probably a better
idea than hands... less likely to be touching the face
inadvertantly with them than the hands... ;)

Unless one in double-jointed probably not, though I have wiped my
    forehead on my forearm.

Yes, I almost always need to concentrate on the conversation going on,

Yup... when the caller is nattering on and on on the same thing.... ;)

    surface anyway.
I rarely am using gloves... I'm just using my sleeve covered arms
    for the short-term...
Same issue with the potential of transferring but probably a better
    option than wearing gloves.
Even bare arms (now that it's gotten hot) are probably a better idea
than hands... less likely to be touching the face inadvertantly with
    them than the hands... ;)
Unless one in double-jointed probably not, though I have wiped my
    forehead on my forearm.

The forehead is less of a danger zone than the nose or mouth... :)

There was a sheet included with my paperwork when I picked up my
prescriptions yesterday indicating my second Shringrix shot was due.
Was auto-generated; I didn't see it until I got home but will ask in
the near future when they want to give the second shot. Right now
Iowa/Scott County is still under restrictions; I have no reason to
    accelerate getting the shot.
Just keep that auto-generated reminder... it lets you know when the
effective period began, so you'll know when you are reaching near the
end of the 6 months, if the second shot hasn't happened in the meantime.
Right - have kept for another reminder: first was a hand-written note
of when I could ask about getting the second shot and the 'expiration'
    date (the six month).
    Those both work... :)
I'll ask the next time I pick up a prescription, maybe sooner if
shopping in their OTC section and no one in line.

    Followed up on that yet...?

...No candy this week; semi-splurged on a giant muffin sale. One a
four-pack of "Double Dutch Chocolate" and the other a four pack of --
came up on the receipt as "BLBRY" so probably blueberry though I don't
recall getting blueberry, nor blackberry. Thought I got a Snickerdoodle,
or at least was considering. Guess will be a surprise! Did have a
Double Dutch Chocolate one last night -- goooood!! Tasted like it had
    a billion calories!
Sometimes the store barcode will be slightly off... I've seen it happen
before.... the right general item, but not the right 'flavor'... or
maybe you reached for a Snickerdoodle, but there was a blueberry in the
way that managed to get into your cart.... ;)
Right, or even the wrong barcode applied. The 'mystery muffins' are
still frozen so no idea what it really is.

    Hi Nancy!

Exactly... and by taking the daily supplement, there's always a
fairly regular amount being ingested, to be supplemented by the less
regular eating of the whole food... :)
Yes, though I have the minor concern of excess building up so for
years I've not taken supplements on weekends. A break in the routine,
possible a digestive vacation. Haven't seen anything scientific to
support the consideration, just something I do.
For most things it wouldn't be an issue anyway... but I don't know
if it's necessarily helpful to take the break from them...
I think it's more psychological: not that I pig-out or otherwise go
wild eating on the weekends but more of a break, "anti-splurge".
Still seems a little odd to me.... ;)

One needs to consider the source! :)

I'm ok with most pills, but the calcium ones seemed to stick for
me... and like iron pill supplements, my body had trouble getting
Anyone want to do the joke on why the iron pill is sticking?!
No, the iron wasn't sticking, it just was causing problems... no
    magnetic personality here... <G>
Well, not that kind of magnetism! :)
I will admit to trying a magnet to my leg some time after the rod was
put in and semi-healed. Didn't expect it to stick but was slightly disappointed when it didn't at least pause before falling.
The metals they use for osteo implants aren't generally of that
sort anyway... they usually don't trigger the security machines
at airports and federal buildings either... :)

Right and right. Just would be one of those "neat party tricks". As
for the scanning machines not being triggered, I have and haven't
triggered them. I don't think the scanners trigger but the X-Ray type
do -- I just try to remember to mention there's a rod in there before
    going through.

As for the scanning machines not being triggered, I have and haven't
triggered them. I don't think the scanners trigger but the X-Ray type
do -- I just try to remember to mention there's a rod in there before
    going through.
I've generally done the same, unless it's something I go through often
enough that I figure they might remember me from the last time... like
the courthouse where the probate for Mommy's estate is being handled...
Makes sense. May not know by name but by sight would be a little
silly to constantly remind the guard. Now if 'daily' and the metal
implant was setting the alarm off I'd probably kid with them about
    "ready?! [beep-beep-beep!]".
They'd see you coming and start smiling... ;)
Yup! And the rest of the people in line would wonder what was going
    on!

If they were paying any attention, anyway... :)

...No candy this week; semi-splurged on a giant muffin sale. One a
four-pack of "Double Dutch Chocolate" and the other a four pack of
-- came up on the receipt as "BLBRY" so probably blueberry though I
don't recall getting blueberry, nor blackberry. Thought I got a
Snickerdoodle, or at least was considering. Guess will be
a surprise! Did have a Double Dutch Chocolate one last
night -- goooood!! Tasted like it had a billion calories!
Sometimes the store barcode will be slightly off... I've seen it
happen before.... the right general item, but not the right
'flavor'... or maybe you reached for a Snickerdoodle, but there was
a blueberry in the way that managed to get into your cart.... ;)
Right, or even the wrong barcode applied. The 'mystery muffins' are
still frozen so no idea what it really is.
Packaged in freezer paper so one can't see through it easily, eh...?
No wonder I can't find them! And still somewhere in one of the
freezers: couple/few weeks ago they had a cheesecake on sale for $8.99
so got that - yum! Last Thursday had a cherry and Oreo (separate
flavours!) cheesecake on sale for $2.99 (smaller than the $8.99 one).
Was going to get one or the other but decided what the heck so
splurged and purchase one of each.
Just couldn't pass that bargain up... <G> They both sound rather
    tasty.... all eaten up yet....?
The cheesecakes were schnarfed down in two servings each. Worth the
splurge-price. :) Don't want to do it all the time as takes away the
    surprise/fun aspect.
Besides, it's a splurge, so more than one would usually spend... ;)
Plus the item. Some things should never be a whiney "agaaaaaaaain?"!

    Very true.... :)

Oh, the "are they really blueberry jumbo muffins?" I had purchased a
while back and were frozen were blueberry. And good! Warmed in the microwave, a bit of butter. Had to be eaten by fork as too tender- crumbly to eat by hand.

So you did end up with something other than the Snickerdoodle you
thought you were reaching for... :) And good that you enjoyed them
    anyway... ;)

Apparently I either mis-grabbed a different muffin box or decided to
have a down-to-Earth blueberry to counteract the slightly decadent
chocolarte ones. ...Anyone thinking next time they're on sale I'll be
    getting a Snickerdoodle?!

I'd say it could be a distinct possibility... but not a done deal... ;) Depending, of course, on how much you obsess on the lost Snickerdoodle
muffins in the meantime... and on whether or not they are available... ;)

Generally don't get too obsessive about food. Right now thinking I'll probably get a pack of the Snickerdoodle jumbo muffins just because
they've been talked about so much: we've sort of been doing our own advertising of them!

I think so (!). Hy-Vee had a BOGO on jumbo muffins last week so did a mini-splurge. One package to the refrigerator and the other to the
freezer. Current package is rum something; I think the other package
(in the freezer) is Snickerdoodle -- remember when buying Autumn would probably like it. The muffins are large enough we're splitting in half. Haven't had any of the rum one with Autumn (any rum would have been
    baked out).
