We did a thing at the square dance tonight, that I thought was
"Progressive Squares", where you literally "dance with every square
on the floor". But, this was a little different, and called "Sicilian
Squares". It was as good as the pizza and cheese. :)
    And what made it Sicilian...?

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure why it was called that...but I
    thought it was neat.

Always fun to learn a new move, or whatever you call it in square
dancing... ;) I remember my m-i-l describing some new ones to me from
    time to time....

On another note, I had difficulty finding a dance site the other
    night, because of 2 reasons:
    1) It wasn't listed on the things like Google Maps, Google Earth, Mapquest, etc.

Too small and/or insignificant to be made note of...?

    2) In the city of Judsonia (population 2019 as of the last census),
the street signs note Judson Street, but the other deals note Judson Avenue. Judson is the surname of the man who the town is named for.

That could be definitely confusing... :)

On my smartphone, I have a GPS deal, and found a website last night,
where you can enter the address, and it'll give you the GPS
coordinates. So, I did that with the Arkansas State Square Dance Federation website (I'm their webmaster, editor, and circulation chairman). I did it for the original website last night...and will do
it on the graphics enhanced website later today.

Was that for the site in Judsonia....?

True... And that seems a good enough reason to spend time at a square
    dance, too... :)

We don't allow alcoholic beverages before or during a dance, and
that's a hard and fast rule. You have to be sober to be able to
    execute the moves.

Bad enough that everyone is cracking up about the caller's sense of
    humor, no doubt... ;)

Plus, 3 hours of dancing, is equal to 6 miles of walking. Yet, we go
out afterwards, and order a banana hot fudge royale sundae <G>.

Have to replenish those calories somehow... <G>

Oh, well... at least you had a nice lunch there... :)

I'll be meeting that Sysop there for lunch later this morning.

And did you have a good lunch again...? And luck out better with
    dessert...? ;)

    Nancy,

Always fun to learn a new move, or whatever you call it in square NB>dancing... ;) I remember my m-i-l describing some new ones to me from NB>time to time....

There is a move in the Advanced (A-2) level, a combination of 3 moves.
It's "Pass And Roll Your Neighbor And Spread". Now, to a non-dancer,
that sounds as kinky as "Square Dancers Do It On The Floor, In Groups Of
Eight, With No Sex, In All Positions". <G> But, we, like in any other
hobby, take the hobby seriously. In fact, at the 1997 Single Square
Dancers USA Labor Day Dance-A-Rama in Nashville, Tennessee...we were
literally "caught on Candid Camera". :)

Sadly, since 1995, attendance has been rapidly declining. As with any
other hobby, the young people are more engrossed in their tablets,
smartphones, etc., and couldn't give a rats rear end about the heritage, current state, or future of a hobby. I understand that the organization
created in 1969 for single square dancers, is going to disband after
this years Labor Day Dance-A-Rama. Lack of attendees, members, and
    workers, is killing it.

I'm wearing 8 square dance hats, and since there are 8 people in a
square, I *AM* square (but you probably knew that already <G>). I'm
wearing 6 of those hats with the Arkansas State Square Dance Federation (ASSDF), with handling two sets of websites, subscriber databases, and publications (I'm the Editor, for the print and e-Edition of "The
Modern Square"). Then, I'm wearing the other 2 hats with the Maverick
Mixers Square Dance Club, as their Club Reporter and Chaplain. I've told
them that "if our club report doesn't make it in, you know who to blame"
    <G>.

On another note, I had difficulty finding a dance site the other
    night, because of 2 reasons:
    1) It wasn't listed on the things like Google Maps, Google Earth, Mapquest, etc.

Too small and/or insignificant to be made note of...?

The town only had 1 traffic light that I could see...it might have had
a second one. It's a reminder of how life used to be, in a small town.

    2) In the city of Judsonia (population 2019 as of the last census),
the street signs note Judson Street, but the other deals note Judson Avenue. Judson is the surname of the man who the town is named for.

That could be definitely confusing... :)

It was for me. It was like "Would it be too much trouble, if we could
    make up our minds??".

Federation website (I'm their webmaster, editor, and circulation chairman). I did it for the original website last night...and will do it on the graphics enhanced website later today.

Was that for the site in Judsonia....?

Well, for all the clubs in the ASSDF that have a regular dance
location, I took the address, and noted "Approxmate GPS Location". I
would hope it gets them within a few yards of the place...and not like
    these 2 instances:

    1) GPS says "Turn Left Here", but if you do, you're going off the side
    of the mountain. :P

    2) GPS says "Turn Left Here", and you turn on to railroad tracks. Then,
to your horror, you realize there's a train coming.

Bad enough that everyone is cracking up about the caller's sense of NB>humor, no doubt... ;)

But, the dancers can have an equally wicked sense of humor. At both of
the examples below, the national caller, Tony Oxendine, from South
    Carolina, was the "victim".

    1) At this dance, a couple (man and woman) had a bar on their badges
that noted "AGITATOR". I asked "What does that mean??". Grinning wryly,
they said "You'll find out"...I thought "Oh, <expletive!>".

They had cut the seams out of their outfits, and had put them back
together with Velcro. Underneath, they were decently clad, but the
special undergarments looked like the real thing (everyone was about to
    find this out <G>).

Well, Tony was calling this great "hot hash patter", and he came to
the now "infamous" call, "Peel Off". <ZING!> (off come the clothes!!).
When the caller saw it, he said "Oh, <expletive!>"...and the music quit.

Word spread like wildfire around the floor, as to what had just
happened, and all he could say was "Son Of A <you know what>!!"...to
    which, that brought more laughter.

    2) At another dance, this one dancer was a double amputee. He had
prosthesis (artificial legs) from the knees down, with both legs. But,
he walked and danced as if he didn't have a handicap or a disability.
The guy didn't believe in the words...he really was an inspiration to
    watch.

Tony said "This next tip will be down and dirty plus, no holds barred, anything goes". To which, the guy went up to the stage, and asked him
for a favor before he started. Tony, unsuspecting of what was to come,
    granted it.

The guy went up to the stage, sat down in a chair, took off his boots,
rolled up his pant legs, and removed his artificial legs. Holding them
up, he said "Would you please slow your calling down?? You're making me
    dance my legs off"!! <BG>

It brought the house down in laughter. Some likely were to the point
of peeing in their pants, crying, and hurting from the laughter.

But, at a dance, for a few hours, you forget about all the crap in
your life outside the hall and off the dance floor...and it's a lot
    cheaper than seeing a psychiartist.

Plus, 3 hours of dancing, is equal to 6 miles of walking. Yet, we go out afterwards, and order a banana hot fudge royale sundae <G>.

Have to replenish those calories somehow... <G>

Yeah, we earned them. <G> Although if the weather is bad after the
dance (it was raining last night), I drove straight home...as I had to
do editing on the publication of the March, 2020 issue of "The Modern
Square". Since I'm having urinary bladder stone surgery on February 7,
and the deadline for folks to get me stuff is February 5, I want to get
the print edition sent to the printer, and the e-Edition both sent out
on February 6...as I surely won't feel like doing much, BBSing or
otherwise, for a few days after the surgery.

And did you have a good lunch again...? And luck out better with NB>dessert...? ;)

The Denny's has a good house salad...with iceberg lettuce (can't
handle romaine or leaf lettuce, never mind the e-coli mess), plus
shredded cheese, croutons, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and thousand
island dressing. Had it had hard boiled eggs, and maybe some ham,
turkey, or both, it'd make it complete.

But, I can't eat salads too often. Even though they're good for me,
the lettuce is too much fiber. The only dressings I like are French, or Thousand Island.

Nancy might be right. Back home doing some notes on my visit to Vienna
I decided to take a series of screenshots of the Google Street Views of
my walk from the hotel to my Aunt's and back. The go to portion was
complete; coming back I go on the other side of the block and a one
block section is not available. Well, available to 'look down' (or
'look up' from the opposite end), but no Street Views.

As for Daryl not finding the dance site, may have been under a different

    Barry,

Once you've found it it's easier to do so again?! (Have fun!)

I didn't make the trip for these reasons.

    1) The doctors appointment I had for a pre-surgery consultation ran late
(as usual). But, when they went to do the blood draw to check the
metabolic panel (checking to be sure the kidneys were working properly),
and my testosterone level (I've been getting low-T implants in the butt
cheeks (alternating) every 4 months), there apparently is so much scar
tissue in the crook of my arm/elbow, that the vessels "blow" and
"roll"...and little if any blood would come out. Moving the I.V., even
with a "butterfly" was excruciatingly painful. It took more than one try
to get blood...but my arm was throbbing so afterwards, I thought it
might affect my reaction time with the pain (even though I'm right
handed). Low-T can lead to, or aggravate cardiovascular and diabetes
    issues.

I did get the cardiac clearance, but the angina I've had is apparently
due to severe reflux, so an upper GI (EGD) will be done soon.

    2) Rain and fog were forecast last evening and overnight, which not only
makes the roads slick, but low visibilities make it more dangerous.

    3) I didn't rest well last night, and so I went to bed early. Then, I
got back up earlier, and had to do some BBS work, and am still up.
However, doing the mail now ensures my BBS work will be done for the
day. But, I may soon take over a message network...like I needed
something else to do. :P The change won't happen overnight, though. I
will crash back out after I get done here. I've found if I get insomnia,
best to get on the BBS. :)

If they put it on the last Thursday of the month, I may not get to go
again until a "5th Thursday", as I normally am "backup" for a ham radio
net on the 4th Thursday. But, being a caller would mean I'd have to give
up my "officer positions" in working off the dance floor, and right now,
    I enjoy those more.

    Daryl

Not being a square dancer myself, I don't really have much of an idea
how well or poorly it might be doing here.... I do know there is some
activity here, as I know a few people that are into square dancing... In
fact, a friend of mine just reconnected with an old friend of his at
one... less than a year later, they are now married... and, I think,
