    Nancy,

Turned out there was a lot more to be said on both sides of all the NB>tangents than one might have thought, so the message instead of staying NB>about the same length each iteration was metastasising... <G> And it's NB>my BW reader... much more genteel... ;)

I wondered how QWK packets grew and spread. <G> And, OLX works better
    for me.

If you have room to keep stuff on your own property, it's probably
better anyway, being much more accessible, should you have need for
it... My brother and I put some stuff from Mommy's estate into a
storage space, but it is a much better secured place than your typical NB>self-storage places... :)

For one, I can't afford the storage space. Two, the last time I had
stuff in storage, it was nearly stolen. Thugs are looking to steal stuff
out of these rooms, and sell it for drugs, etc.

However, I may have to bite the bullet, and upgrade to Windows 10 Home

I'll use the downtime to take the BBS computer and my Mom's computer
into a local dealer, PC Assistance, and install Windows 10 Home Edition
on each. I'll have the laptop with me on the trip, as I'll be using it

I had to go to the local Best Buy to order 3 copies of Windows 10 Pro

    Hi, Barry...

Well, I decided to do the work on my own to save a few shekels. I went
to the local Best Buy, and ordered 3 copies of Windows 10 Pro 32-bit (it
had to be that), one for each computer. They'll arrive on June 12, and
I'll go pick them up. Then, I can back up the files, and do the work on
my own. The BBS computer will likely be done LAST, when I get back from vacation. By getting them at Best Buy, each copy was $60 cheaper than
what Microsoft wanted. If there was any doubt about corporate greed,
    it's gone now.

I just hope the flooding has gone down by September. With all that's
going on now, at direction of Union Pacific, all Amtrak service through Arkansas (in reality, between St. Louis, Missouri, and Fort Worth,
Texas) has been ANNULLED...until at least June 7. They have shut down
the Pine Bluff and Jonesboro Subdivisions of the former Cotton Belt
line, and rerouted freight traffic to the Little Rock and Hoxie
Subdivisions of the former Missouri Pacific line (both now owned by
Union Pacific). The former Frisco line bridge over the Arkansas River at
Van Buren is "in the water", and the same may occur to the former Cotton
Belt bridge at Pine Bluff...and if the river keeps rising at Little
Rock, the same will occur there. If that occurs, except for the
Kansas City Southern in western Arkansas (not sure what their
flooding situation is), the rest of the train service in Arkansas will
    stop.

I see MS now wants you to have a license first before upgrading from Win7/8 If you want to D/L and install it on another pc other than the one you are on or upgrade from XP/Vista it also requires a license
now first also before downloading the tool and ISO from what I can tell.

    Lee,

Why didn't you just do what I did buy a digital license on Ebay for $5-10 an LG>then download the MS Media Creation Tool (Creates DVD/USB) and the LG>Windows 10 ISO and save yourself $$$ ? I have all W10 ISO versions on
my bbs and the Media Creation Tool 32/64 also. I used it Jan 2019 to install LG>on another PC. I see MS now wants you to have a license first before LG>upgrading from Win7/8 If you want to D/L and install it on another pc other LG>than the one you are on or upgrade from XP/Vista it also requires a license LG>now first also before downloading the tool and ISO from what I can tell.

My mind has been so overloaded with other things surrounding bills,
things with my Mom in the nursing home, etc., that I've been on the
verge of a breakdown for nearly a year. With short term memory issues
from a concussion and 2 lightning strikes, my memory is not so good
    anymore.

Not really, who needs a fancy box?

True...they came in 3 disk size envelopes.

But, I've got more important fish to fry right now. Besides, the
suppport and updates don't end until January, 2020.

    Nancy,

These were often lunch bags... with the person's name written on it... NB>when put out, the stockings often were set in the bag, instead of
putting a nametag on the stocking... ;)

Reminds me of the bizarre graphic where an employee put their lunch in
a container that warned of "medical items -- danger!!", or something to
that effect. Apparently, there were folks at the one workplace stealing
stuff from other employees lunch bags.

If you say so... They do say that the way to stave off dementia is to
    keep learning new things.... ;)

I'll have enough of that with installing Windows 10 Pro 32-bit on 3 separate computers.

Yes, that should be a workout, indeed... ;)

    Yep...dreaming and memories are free.
    Yup. :)

As the song says "The best things in life are free".

Or, another song.... I've got the sun in the morning and the moon at
    night...

I may just take some time off from BBSing and other things. I really
need "to get away from it all" for a time...to unwind, and recharge my
    batteries.
Just don't stay away too long... ;)

I will be back. I've invested too much in BBSing to give it up.

To say nothing of the addictive hold it can have... ;)

... If absolutely everything goes wrong ... take a nap.

When thunderstorms threaten here, that's what I do. At least the
weather is finally calming down here for a few days, so we can get a
much needed chance to dry out.

    About time... ;)

I suppose that might seem like a solution... ;) I wonder how long that
    ploy actually worked, though.... :)

    Nancy,

Yes, that should be a workout, indeed... ;)

Nearly started that when I had to completely rebuild the message areas
on the BBS, due to a corrupt origin line. I thought I had fixed it, but
no. I lost a days worth of mail, so I'm hoping the origin line is fixed.

To say nothing of the addictive hold it can have... ;)

    I BBS -- but I can control it. <G>

It won't last...storms arrive over the weekend and last into next
    week.

    I feel your pain. :P
