    Hi Daryl!

    Hi, Barry...

... 1973: Johnny Carson makes joke abt toilet paper shortage; shelves out.

When I heard that former star Doris Day had died, I though of one of
the jokes with "The Great Carnac" (or was it Cardiac?? -- aka Johnny
Carson), with Ed McMahon handing him the envelopes.

The one I remember was where he rubbed the envelope up against his
head, and said "Marcus Welby. Catfish. Doris Day".

He opened the envelope, and said "Name a Surgeon, A Sturgeon, and A
    Virgin". :P

She had 4 marriages, and lost one of her children, which devastated
her emotionally. One of her husbands was a deadbeat, basically wiping
out all of her assets, and putting her into severe debt.

The ones I remember her for were "Que, Sera, Sera" (her theme song),
and in such movies at "The Glass Bottom Boat".

When I heard that former star Doris Day had died, I though of

Yes, saddened and surprised on hearing of her death yesterday (Monday)
-- didn't realize she was still alive. OTOH I don't follow that kind of information. Was pleased the local news gave her long runtime for her obituary.

The story I saw noted "she wanted no funeral, no memorial, etc".
Apparently, she had a big aversion to ones mortality (death). But, all
of us are going to have to face The Grim Reaper sooner or later.

I heard on a ham radio net that one of the regular checkins had passed
away Monday evening. The gentleman noting such was real emtional, as "he
    had gotten him into D-Star".

Possibly not so much about facing her death as the attitude if you
didn't visit when I was alive don't bother when I'm dead.
