DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Typhoon Malakas was located
near Latitude 23.7 degrees North and Longitude 139.7 degrees East.
Malakas is moving north-northeast at 15 mph. It is expected to make a
slight turn toward the northeast with a dramatic increase in forward
speed through Saturday.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 115 mph. Malakas is forecast to
weaken through Saturday, and will likely begin a transition to an
extratropical cyclone later today.
Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 85 miles.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
280 miles to the northeast and up to 225 miles elsewhere.
