DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Typhoon Malakas was located
near Latitude 14.5 degrees North and Longitude 135.6 degrees East.
Malakas is moving north-northwest at 9 mph. It is expected to make a
slight turn toward the north with a slight decrease in forward speed
through Wednesday.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 75 mph. Malakas is forecast
to intensify through Wednesday, then begin a weakening trend.
Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 30 miles.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
180 miles.
