    DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
    ----------------------
At 400 PM CHST...0600 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Malakas was
located near Latitude 7.6 degrees North and Longitude 143.7 degrees
East. Malakas is moving north at 6 mph but is expected to maintain a
general northwestward motion with a slight increase in forward speed
    through Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds remain at 45 mph. However, flaring deep
convection has developed the past several hours over the center,
which was previously exposed. This suggests that intensification will
soon resume. Gradual intensification is expected Sunday and Monday
with Malakas possibly becoming a typhoon Monday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
    90 miles.
