Mike,
This was our 2nd trip to Branson. The first allowed us to see Andy Williams before he died. Branson is a great destination for entertainment.
I had gone there with a couple of ham radio friends for an event in
April years ago. While there, we saw ventriloquist Todd Oliver (he has
a live dog in his act), and Tom Mullica (doing a tribute to Red Skelton).
Several of Todd's routines can be found on YouTube. With Tom Mullica,
you thought Red had come back from the dead.
There were a ton of funny routines (including Guzzler's Gin <G>), but
the best one had to be when he found out that there were nurses in the audience. He was absolutely ecstatic with joy...saying to them "I'm so
glad you are here today!! I've been dying to ask this question".
The hall gets dead quiet, and he looks at the nurses and inquires
"Have we had our bowel movement today??!!" <G>.
It brought the house down in raucous laughter, and those nurses were
as red as tomatoes!! <BG>
They are working on widening US Highway 65 to 4 lanes all the way from Branson, Missouri...south through Harrison, Arkansas, then down to
Clinton, and Conway, Arkansas...where it junctions with Interstate 40.
It's already 4 lanes between Clinton and Harrison, Arkansas, but that
was 2 years ago...and it may be completed all the way there now.
Interstate 40 runs between the Carolinas and the West Coast...going
through such cities as Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis, Tennessee... Brinkley, Forrest City, Hazen, Lonoke, North Little Rock, Conway,
Morrilton, Russellville, Ozark, and Fort Smith, Arkansas...Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma...and Amarillo, Texas. There are many more, but I'd
have to look at map for that info.
Several years ago, when an errant barge on the Arkansas River struck
one of the I-40 bridge piers at Webbers Falls, Oklahoma...I-40 was
closed for 2 weeks, while they worked round the clock to completely
rebuild the bridge. You can imagine what a traffic nightmare that was.
