• Birdfeeding

I don't know if birdfeeding is really a hobby or not, but it seems to take up a lot of time and money and that should qualify it! ;)

Anyone else here regularly feed the birds? Have you seen shortages of bird food? Have your feeders recently been busy or empty?

Although I no longer have a bird feeder in my back yard, I used to. It was fun looking
outside my back window to see them feed. It hung fairly close to my wood picket fence
and, unfortunately, squirrels figured out how to balance themselves precariously to steal
the food. But having the birds show up made it all worth while.

There was a lot of activity in my yard. We regularly had Iguanas walking that same
fence all the time. They were a regular occurrence until a record freeze for south Florida
    killed them off.

We do have a friend in Georgia that has several. He regularly gets humming birds.
    Beautiful to watch!

We have a VAST ammount of ravens here. They don't seem to need our help at all. I enjoy watching them though.

Same with the birds that nest in my barn. They seem to like the place because they can get lots of lose horse hair for their nests. I love to watch the chicks in spring. Still no feeding. I think this area is already plentiful for them.

Wife bought some hummingbird feeders LAST year toward the end of the season, but hasn't hung them yet. :-)
