  • Camping 2021 in Canada

    Hi Everyone, just signed up but couldn't resist chatting about camping & canoeing. :)

    It's an interesting year here for camping (Ontario, Canada).
    My wife and I usually do several back country trips every year along
    with our kids (6 & 8), but with the covid lockdown closing all crown
    land / provincial parks... fingers crossed!

    I was lucky enough to get a few trips booked (anyone know the Kawartha Highlands Prov. Park and it's routes?). Just waiting to see if they get cancelled...

    Taking my daughter (8) on a 3 day trip into the back country. We'll be
    doing the Serpentine Loop, multiple small waterfalls and a 1500m
    portage across 5 seperate kates. We're looking forward to it come
    August!

    Hope to hear from ou all about trips you have planned this summer..

    That's great!
    I'm always amazed at how many people know of, or have visited this strange little town of Peterborough! :)

    Years ago, my wife and I were in Munich Germany, on part of our honeymoon. We were in the Hofbrauhaus for Oktoberfest (I think they may have been serving beer? lol), which if you've ever seen the place, it's a huge hall full of long tables and people are seated whereever space becomes available.

    A fellow sits down across from us and we start chatting, turns out he's been to Peterborough and knew a friend of ours!
    Small world, even across a stein in Germany. :)

    If you camped in Pterborough you probably stayed at Beavermead Park.
    Right by Lock 20, just down from 21 (the Lift Locks).
    I've actually never camped there, usually we do back country, but we do play in the park and beach at Beavermead (preCovid) with the kids.

    If we ever get down to Florida I'll let you know for sure!

    My wife and I live in Florida, but we did take a trip to Peterborough to visit friends there.
    They are also campers and own property in Sarasota, FL. We stayed in a
    local park in
    Peterborough, and they showed us around. I love the various locks in
    your area. Nice
    town!

    I know that travel during Covid from Canada is tough, but if you ever
    make it to the
    Tampa area, be sure to look me up.
