From Arkansas State Square Dance Federation (ASSDF) President Ted Hofmeister:

ONLY 2 WEEKS left until our ASSDF Dance, sponsored by the Levi's And Lace, and their annual Maypole Dance. We're dancing in the Doubletree "Penthouse", and it will be as nice a venue as I've danced in, while overlooking beautiful Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs.

The meeting and dance will be at the Doubletree By Hilton, at 4813 Central Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. While the room discount for the weekend has ended, many nearby hotels offer cheaper rates.

For the ASSDF Member Clubs: Please line up your delegates (2 per club, if possible), for the Delegates Meeting before the dance from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Prior to the Delegates Meeting will be a Callers Seminar from 2pm to 5pm.
The ASSDF Executive Board will meet prior to the Callers Seminar.

The dance will feature callers Phil Moorehouse, Gene Gancarczyk, and Charlie Robertson, starting at 7pm. Admission will be $10 per person, or $20 per couple.

There's so much to do in Hot Springs...it's an amazing town to come early in the week, and stay a few days.

For those looking for extra excitement before the dance, Oaklawn Horse Race Track will be concluding its 2021 season...with the Arkansas Breeders Championship on Friday, April 30...and the Oaklawn Invitational on Saturday, May 1, which will be the last day of the racing season. That may add to the traffic in the region.

The best way to get there is Exit 111 off of Interstate 30. Highway 270 into Hot Springs is 4 lanes, with a center passing lane at times. There's also a bypass around the city, unless you prefer to go through town. While the mask mandate for COVID-19 was lifted in late March, some areas still have such,
and portions of the famous Hot Springs Bath House Row, may not be available.

Unfortunately, due to plumbing issues at my home, along with other issues, yours truly (the Editor, Circulation Manager, and Webmaster) will NOT be
able to attend the weekend.

A report on the dance will be in the June, 2021 issue of The Modern Square, which is planned for release the evening of May 14, 2021. Any and all items
for such must be emailed to assdfmodernsquare@gmail.com -- and be on my desk
no later than 6pm Central Time that day. Otherwise, they will not run in the issue.
