  • A few new nodes

    Hello All,

    We have a couple new nodes on the QWK side as well as anew node on FTN as well. A good day.. :)

    This is the first message that will be going out as both QWK and FTN so I'm hoping that is going to work as expected.

    It didn't work as I was hoping. We had problems on the QWK side as well with the first messages posted. It was message pointers being initialized I think, and I think the same thing is happening with the ftn side now.. just a matter of initialization.

    So I have added my node to the FTN side as well so I can see what is happening.

    I've also added a test area so I don't make a lot of noise.. ;)

    The area is called GN_TEST on the ftn side and it is area #1027 on the QWK side. I'll be in there testing away and you are welcome there if you'd like to test as well.

    Andrew, I have added your node so I hope you will be seeing msgs in there as well as the rest of the areas.

    If you could post the info in any networks you belong to that would also be good. We need to come up with a better advert than the one I posted a few days ago also. Perhaps an add with a bit of ascii art would be good. Are you an artist by any chance? :) I am not myself. I love ANSi and ascii art but I cannot create it myself.

    While I'm here.. an update on the QWK <-> FTN problems are probably in order. Currently nodes on the FTN side receive everything. Sneaky got a reply from an FTN node to one of his posts that I suspect he never saw.

    The FTN nodes can read and reply to each each other fine, and receive everything that QWK nodes post. When messages come in from an FTN node they travel to the other FTN nodes but are not saved to the message base and so are not sent to the QWK nodes.

    We are talking about this on the FTN side but of course the QWK nodes don't see it.

    I see the problem but I don't yet have a solution.

    I am looking at that and will apply a solution at my first opportunity.

    A light at the end of the tunnel! I see your FTN post on the QWK side. :)

    That is good. I will have to look in the log and see if I can see how that happened and make sure it continues for all the areas.
