So, I decided to give Battlestar Galactica (1978) a shot after finishing Voyager. I'm two episodes into the first season and so far I like it!

One thing though, that woman with the kid has terrible parenting skills; she just lets him wander off with his creepy robot-dog.

Heh. Yeah, I don't know if I can go that far back and still enjoy it. ¨Television in the 70s and early 80s (particulary where the target demographic ¨was expected to be kids) had a pretty big layer of cheese on the writing, and ¨some pretty miserable production values. I re-watched the Six Million Dollar ¨Man last year. Some of it was pretty tough going. Right now I'm watching ¨Miami Vice. The aesthetic is every bit as great as I remember, but some of ¨the acting is...not great.

I watched the first couple of seasons of Burn Notice. I remember the 'tech' being like Macgyver on steroids... "With a coat hanger, a gum wrapper, a 9 volt battery, and a broken cell phone, you can make a laser to burn your way out of a prison cell." I remember the female lead beind easy on the eyes but with a staggeringly bad irish accent. And I remember Bruce Campbell being *awesome*, because Bruce Campbell is *always* awesome!

Yeah, I meant that it's a little bit more watchable because it *wasn't* ¨targeted towards kids. Writers seemed to have had some contempt for kids or ¨something, and really went overboard dumbing their scripts down back in the ¨day. You can see the stark difference between a show thought to be for adults ¨versus one that was 'family oriented' when you compare Airwolf season one ¨(which is a lot darker) to the subsequent seasons which shifted towards ¨'family friendly.'

So one thing that I've noticed is that the pacing for older shows ¨(particularly in the 70s, but this is true for even Miami Vice, filmed in the ¨mid-eighties) is much slower than what we see in modern shows. If someone in ¨Miami Vice goes from location A to location B, they'll almost always show them ¨doing so, instead of just jumping from a shot of them leaving to a shot of ¨them arriving.

As far as The Six Million Dollar Man goes, I enjoyed it, but I have to say if ¨you're a little OCD like me, the continuity issues may drive you bonkers.

I didn't remember that show from when it originally aired, but I did catch several episodes on Comet a couple of years ago. I found it to be entertaining. Unfortunately, that was right before the "local" station
dropped Comet from its subchannel lineup which, in turn, lead to the cable company replacing it with whatever the TV station replaced it with (Rewind
    or Grit).
