• Physical media releases, 4K, etc

I still like to buy movies and TV shows on physical media (at least, ones I really like). Is anyone here looking forward to any upcoming physical media releases?

Currently I'm looking forward to the release of the Star Trek Next Generation movies on 4K blu-ray. I heard they're planned for release on April 4 of this year (2023). Last year, they released the first 6 Star Trek movies on 4K blu-ray and I bought that set too.

I buy music that I like on vinyl but I don't buy hardware video content any more. However, what I ended up doing is investing a small fortune in an iTunes library that I'm paranoid Apple will simply stop supporting one day in favor of 100% subscription/streaming services :(

    To which Commodore Clifford replies...

I just hate that I feel like I keep buying them over and over and over.

VHS... DVD... Blu Ray... 4k...... I started going mostly to digital
(Vudu for example) but I still find myself buying all the versions.

How many versions of "The Wrath of Khan" do I have? Only God knows, and
he's laughing at me for it.

    What is "hardware video content"?

That's one reason I avoid buying movies in streaming format only and tend to prefer physical media. I've heard of at least a couple situations where people have bought streaming movies, and then the provider where they bought it from removed the movie from their library.

DVD and onward are digital formats.. Or do you mean the online streaming versions?

When I 'upgrade' one of my movies (or TV shows) to a newer format, I tend to sell my older one. I don't want to keep all the older ones around. :)
