• WiFi 232 Modem issue

From PalKat@21:4/137 to All on Mon Jan 2 16:27:15 2023
Back in November I picked up WiModem232 w/OLED from CBMStuff and have an
issue wondering if anyone has any input on it? I did reach out to Jim @ CMBStuff and he saw the issue but did not have a fix at the moment.

I am noticing when I am connected to my Mystic BBS or other ibm ANSI bbses
the arrow keys do not work in menus. For example in mystic bbs you can see a list of message boards and use your up/down arrow keys to move through
topics. when I connect using the WiFimodem 232 the arrows don't move up and down but just kick me out of that menu on the bbs. I tested this at all baud rates and still the same issue. I then connected to the same BBSes using null modem cable with TCPSer and the arrow keys worked just fine on those boards.

Is it possible there is something in the WiFi modem setup that is not
working with the arrow keys or sending the correct keystroke to the remote
bbs when using arrow keys? I have also tested this in multiple terminal programs with the same issue.

Kind of a bummer as it is hard to use a ANSI arrow menu driven BBS with this issue. :-(

Do you have the WiModem232 set to "RAW" or "TELNET" mode? That can make a difference sometimes. I'm using RAW with my BBS (DarkForce!) and if some
one calls in using TELNET, some keys work and sometimes there's even
    spurious activity.

Try it both ways and see if that changes anything. Just a thought. HTH's.

I have and still no luck, Jim did post on his forum he played with the
firmware a little and got the arrow keys to somewhat work but then said being Mystic and those using his WiModem to call Mystic is such a small group he
will try to look for a fix at some point. Well now he is dealing with the Commodore Key's issue/defects from his indigo that shipped last week so I
doubt there will be a fix anytime.

With that said, anyone else know of another WiFi Modem for RS232 that
    supports Mystic arrow keys/menus?

Well that's unfortunate. Jim Drew is really big on support. If there's a
way to fix this I'm sure he will.

I personally am not aware of any other Wimodems that do what you need,
    but maybe someone else does.

Good luck and I hope you get it resolved soon.

There are a few ZiModem based solutions (which means you can access the
source and perhaps make adjustments yourself). Might be worth looking
    into.
