• Wolfenstein 3D...

From ACMEBBS@21:4/10 to All on Wed Jun 8 04:46:00 2022
Am running old DOS games on my Xbox Series S. For myself...it's perfect and all our favorites run great. Just hooked it up to my cheap projector to project on a cheap screen hanging on the wall above my bed.

With the version of Wolfenstein 3D being a DOS port...can you carry your character/items to other chapters or do you have to start over for each chapter?

In the DOS version you always started a new episode fresh. You carried nothing over from previous times you played.

... Back up my hard drive? I can't find the reverse switch!

    Thank you for the answer.

Even though I'm 30+ years out of date on going over this...it does ease my mind that whoever did the port kept it close to the original DOS port. While I do own the DOS version of many of these games from the era from GOG.com...my 10 year old PC is showing its age...while playing these games on a game console means not having to deal with setting it up. It was fun back in the day...but now...just want to play/enjoy the games on my Series S through the projector.

I still have the old DOS version, as well as a 486 or two to run the game on.

There is an SDL port which you can use on Windows and Linux which is pretty good. Almost identical to the original except for high resolution support.

Thanks for the info. Got the SDL & other version of 3D & Sword.
