    Hey

I'm going to start posting here about Talisman stuff, rather than the
general bbs echo.. Given that a few of you have netmailed/emailed me
offering to help test, I thought this would be a good place for open
discussion and reporting bugs etc, rather than everyone emailing me the
    same bug :P

Not that I mind emails, if you prefer that, keep going, just if we use
this area, it will be easier to put our heads together :)

So far, Tiny has been testing the windows version, and alpha has been
trying to compile the linux version. There is an issue (possibly more)
that may come up when compiling on linux, firstly you will need a
compiler that can do C++17 (debian 10 comes with 8.3.something I think
and that just scrapes in) older compilers won't work.

Second, Alpha ran into an issue where I forgot to include <vector> in FileArea.h it seems I can get away with it on debian 10, but perhaps some
    other distributions/compilers (?) I can't.

Each version of GCC seems to have it's own quirks. I deal with this by having a few versions of GCC that I compile against. Ubuntu tends to have the latest, and Debian the oldest. If it works on both you are usually golden.

Also you can use centos (I hate redhat but...) you can use their devtoolset to install multiple gcc's pretty easily that you can swap between using "scl enable ..." commands. I just keep a build farm running with ubuntu, centos, win32, and debian10. You can alsop use debian testing to get the most recent gcc.

Cool! Thanks for the tip. I'm installing CentOS 8 right now.

Just for the sake of transparency I know we've talked about using this echo
for just that purpose, so I propose we rename the echo to Talisman BBS
support etc. which I'm 99% sure you're fine with :)

I'll try and get that updated in the infopack etc. over the coming days.

Yep, I am fine with it, but just so people know if they are still running magicka, they are welcome to ask questions about that too.

I think that's a good idea. With Magicka currently on hold, may as well
    use this area.

I'll move over here after I reply to the last email later today. :)

So far, Tiny has been testing the windows version, and alpha has been

On 64 bit so far. Once I start to configure it in more detail it will
be moved to the 32 bit windows 10 machine that runs ezycom.

Maybe "Apam's software support" echo? Then any of your programs on
on topic? Not sure if that would be too confusing though.

Maybe, though might be better to leave it to BBS software, just because
doors have a wider audience and people may skip this area if they're
running mystic or some other software and are uninterested.
