Hi poindexter FORTRAN
11:45pm for the deal and spend a couple hours drinking free
coffee refills and doing homework.
Sure it wasnt perving on the opposite sex?
Unfortunately no - it was writing VAX assembly code. Our class had 30 people and a VAX with 8 serial ports. 4 of them connected to
terminals the other 4 went into a port selector.
What a bummer! &-{

I started off in computers when they stood in the center of glassed-off PF>rooms with a ramp leading up to a raised floor. Only appointed people PF>were allowed to enter the room and Never With Food Or Drink.
Getting to go in and see a system was awe-inspiring to college-aged me.
Later I took a job writing code on a midrange computer (only the size
of 2 armoires...) where I was tasked with environmental maintenance
(e.g. sweeping all of the paper chads out from under the line printer) PF>and swapping tapes for backup. I later became the Lead Acolyte.
I ascended to full priesthood when I was allowed to hit the Big Red PF>Button that engaged the Halon system as a test.
... Dont give Chad a big neural network
