i hate using them at times when they fall out of my ears. Especially when they get trapped in a car seat.
They are also expensive. I fear losing one or both of them.

I don't really like that style of headphones in general. They aren't really comfortable to me, though I haven't tried Apple's. I don't think I'd want to use the wireless ones, for the same reason you mention - I'd think it would be too easy for them to fall out, and I might lose them.

I've not used airpods specifically, but I find that style I have the same problem with. They seemed like a great idea but you appear to need to have the right ear shape for them to work.

I find that if I consciously wipe the grease/oil off of them before and after every use they tend to stay in better, but I'm not one of those people that can walk around all day with an airpod in without it falling out.

Plus the people that walk around all day with an airpod in their head look like idiots.

Be it my imagination, or airpods have the ablity to behave like glorified hearing aids if you're not actively using them? Think I heard that one somewhere....

I can attest that my airpods were much more uncomfortable that my hearing aides. While backpacking, I would take my hearing aides out when I got to bed. I put the airpods in so I could listen to some video and/or podcasts. The airpods were so uncomfortable that it's only a few minutes and I pull them out and turn off the phone.

Ponder, must've been another product I saw somewhere. When they weren't receiving data from a device, they'd pass through the ambient noise with some modulation for over loud sounds...

I notice more retail employees walking around with one earpod in. Seems a little improper if you're being paid to be focused on work and customers.

A company tried, and they failed - wondered if Big Ear had something to do with it.

They made a set of earbuds called Hear One, and they came with a killer sound-shaping app. You could adjust the sound to cancel out frequencies
(like a high-pitched screech of metal wheels on rails on a train car or the sound of tinnitus) or use it to discriminate local conversations in a
crowded restaurant. You could do all sorts of sound shaping like reducing
the volume at concerts (without that muffled sound earplugs give you) or use an ambient mode to enhance outdoor sounds.

They were lobbying to get the restrictions protecting the hearing aid manufacturers to be able to be marketed as hearing aids, but they ran out of funding and went bankrupt. I'd expected Samsung, or Apple, or someone to buy their IP and roll it into their products, but it's been a couple of years
    and I haven't heard a peep.

Perhaps they see the writing on the wall, that human employees in retail will be rendered redundant within a decade. :P

I think ChatGPT is going to be the biggest redundancy-maker. Lots of people are making livings doing, among other things, content creation for web
sites - especially remote/home workers. I think most of the web is going to
be AI-generated content in the next couple of years, and human content creators are going to be left behind.

Creating your own GPT chatbot and curating AI content for customers will be the next big thing.

The only NLP I know is neuro-linguistic programming - a visualization tool. Are you referring to something else?

Yeah, natural language processing. Letting a computer make determinations about sentiment, etc.
