Well I've been back home for a couple of weeks after spending 6 weeks staying at my parents place helping them while my Dad was undergoing cancer treatment and my mum was essentially too frail to care for herself without assistance.

The treatment for my Dad went smoothly (as far as we can tell) and my care of my mother went OK too. I got to spend some time with my brother who flew over from the USA to be with us as well. So despite the somewhat less than ideal circumstances for being together as a family it was a good experience with that mix of highs and lows that come with something like that (as you would expect).

I'm still working from home and uncertain as some covid-19 restrictions start to relax in New Zealand just how long my remote working will last for. Personally I have mostly enjoyed remote working and hope to be able to continue to do that if able.

I'm also working hard to still avoid getting Covid as I think there are pretty good chances I'll end up back at my parents place in the coming months to help with further care etc. of one or both of them.

My hobbies of BBSing and running a LPFM station have been taking a bit of a back seat as of late as I have found the mix of work, family supporting etc. to be taking up a lot of my time and energies. But I have no desire to cease
doing BBSing or the LPFM stuff :) So the time I am spending on BBSing is a bit more limited these days by the things outlined above.

I've hatched a couple of Xqtr files today, there's the latest issue of Null and a nice Mystic Mod you may well (heck yes you will) enjoy playing with - thanks Xqtr :)

Am working on adding a few nodes and doing some tidy up of the nodelist over the next week or so also. Plus there's the catching up on echomail :) I can understand how it can be easier sometimes to skip to the last 20 messages posted and start from there - ha! :)

A note of thanks for your continued participation and interest in fsxNet as a FTN network. It's always nice to login and see some activity and chatter between folks when I am all too well aware there are a number of BBS FTN networks around that are essentially inactive. So thank you.

    You do indeed. :)

Some of your topic starters may be better rested in other echomail areas that relate to them though.

I've seen a few in recent times that made me think they could have been posted in another fsxNet echo and would have been more on-topic there.

If you could review the list of echomail areas and consider this before posting that would be appreciated.

    Hope this finds you well.

Glad you could find the good in the situation. We did something similar here when my mother broke her arm - I've seen more of my sister and my mom had
seen more of her side of the family since then.

My company is talking about closing my physical office and remaining remote. My only physical constraint is a handful of ESX servers that I could host at another office in the area - and that office had a desktop support person
that could act as remote hands for me. :)

No one is talking about reimbursement for company use of internet/cell
phones, it'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

We're still focused on Covid prevention in my house, although the region is relaxing restrictions. I'm in the same boat as you, being primary assistance for my elderly mom.

One nice thing to see is that the kids are totally normalized towards
wearing masks indoors when there's no chance to social distance.

I hope we all come out of this a little wiser, wear masks when we have to go in to the office and aren't feeling well, and choose to stay home first. The dot-com era SuperHero that'd come into the office come hell or high water
and work 10+ hours ended up doing everyone more harm than good.

I had a boss (1999-2009) that expected everyone to come in even if sick.
So it wasn't a personal choice, but a had to..... *(&&*^hole...
