Samsung and Motorola both offered docking phones as a new paradigm for
desktop computing. Samsungs was a dock with HDMI and USB, Motorola had
similar dock, but also had a "webtop", a laptop shell with keyboard,
trackpad, screen, battery and a dock for the phone. Dock it in and you have
a "laptop" with cellular networking. I think it might have been ahead of its time.
I like the idea of being able to use my phone as a computer; I have a 512 GB SD card in mine and treat it like an offsite backup of my media. And, with
an "unlimited" plan, I don't need to worry about public wifi.
