Gamgee is going to blame me for you doing more of these. :)

I didn't have a C64, just a VIC-20. Voodoo Castle was my favorite, and I was terrible at it. Admittedly, I was six years old.

I had a bunch of games we'd play on the C64. When my cousins would come over I'd load up Monopoly or Jeopardy so we could all play. On my own I'd play Pitfall, Spyhunter or one called "Test Drive" I think where it would speak in a robotic voice after the game loads: "Accolade Presents!".

Also, not really a game but I did print my fair share of sweet sweet dot matrix banners in Print Shop:

You are being very generous describing it as "robotic" and a "voice." I still believe that the Porsche handled the best, but they were probably all the same.

What was your favourite Commodore 64 games?

For me, if I look at the amount of time played, it boils down to two.

On the action side, Ikari Warriors. The good one ;-) Played it loads, and it is still my standard 'go to' game when I play with emulators. Spent many an hour playing this with a mate in my childhood.

The other game was Pool of Radiance. Four double sided discs of RPG glory! Played this a LOT. It's so cool to see that this game is even being played today, including speed runs that you can find on YouTube. I still find myself trying to find a game that rekindles the RPG feel of this one today....

Ah, yes...good ol' Print Shop! When I discovered that little gem, I had a new poster on my bedroom door every day for a month! Most of them had some tiny text saying rude things about my siblings hidden inside. Fond memories. :)

Agreed... None of them really match Pool & Curse for me. Though Eye of the Beholder in the 90s was pretty great for the time.

Problem for me with all the new games is that I just don't care about lore.

What was your favourite Commodore 64 games?

    Easy for me. Undoubtedly:

    * M.U.L.E.

    * Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar

As to the second, I never completed it but burned out on it so much that I stopped being a gamer once I gave up. Since then, I've played the odd arcade game in emulation but haven't bought consoles or cared about games.

People walk into this room and conclude I must be into comic books, video games, and the like, given all of the monitors, and I say, "No, none of those," and they look at me strangely and I have to explain that Ultima IV killed the gaming circuit in my head.

I will, a few times a year, play a game of M.U.L.E. in emulation, still. I really think that was a fun game.

I could have sworn Wizard of War was a clone of the game Lazarian, but it isn't. There was a game with a similar name if I recall correctly, which was reskined Lazarian. Or did I imagine that?

Well, "Wizard of Wor" was a fave way back when we had party splits while playing "The Temple of Elemental Evil". However I never owned a c64 myself
