    I am a bit shaken today, reminded as I am of the trauma of understanding the things which separate us as human beings on this planet. I am reminded of that moment I lost my innocence, in which I came to understand that the world was not the harmonious series of holidays, birthday parties, and games of youth -- the moment I became an adult.

    Am feeling a bit shattered right now. But as unsettling as it is, I believe it is important sometimes to revisit that moment when we came to grips with the true nature of the world: our individual moment of reason -- the moment we eat from the tree of knowledge and good and evil.
