I did have a brainstorm today that I am looking into. Going back to hosting my own email/calendar platform at home and using a free or very affordable email store and forward service. Dynu-DNS does this for
$9.99 per year. They can accept inbound/outbound email to your domain
and do it on custom ports to also get around the tcp/25 blocks.

There was a service I was looking into once called Helm that did all of the legwork for you. It is its own box that you have at your house and connects to a VPN for in/outbound connectivity so it uses their IPs instead of your own residential ones.

Of course you have to buy their $250-$400 box and pay them $100 /year for the VPN connectivity. Doing it yourself for $10 /year is a much better option for those with the know-how.

That was one of the solutions I saw today while searching.. It is an interesting way to do things, but if I'm paying that much I might as well keep Google.
