Been a sparky for 25 years now and yes I am a DIYer and have done just about anything. I just study up before starting a project then hit the ground running. Remodeled a Kitchen, 2 bathrooms, replaced all the plumbing in 2 houses, replaced bad block in one house and getting ready to install a mini split in my current abode.

I haven't but I know someone who has them and really likes them. He uses Alexa routines to "set the mood" in his family room for watching movies and TV. I am thinking of getting a RGB LED Bias set to put behind my tv that will change color depending on what's on the screen. https://www.amazon.com/Backlights-Govee-Compatible-Lighting-Calibrate/dp/B07JKV KZX8?tag=edit-tech-round-up-20&ascsubtag=04TVvKdSyRwSslwopbDd2Vp
It helps when watching in a dark room.

I have some bulbs in the house and have linked them to my alexa devices. The niggle I have found is that after a powercut the alexa seems to have lost contact with the bulbs and now now longer remembers the room profiles I set
    up either.

Trying to rescan for the hardware is also failing :( So yeah, a bunch of
bulbs I can't do much with at the moment :(

Sigh, I have several lamps that are on mains plug in devices to turn them on/off with Alexa. I have one that i have had to reconnect to the network a couple of times but have been fortunate that so far everything works after a power failure. From what I have read there is a wide range of "quality" in both devices and software (skills) that is out there. I do notice there always seems to be improvement in things as we go along.

Yeah, I have searched Amazon and asked alexa, but so far can't seem to find more time to do the things I need too. ;)

I have the building trade background, so ahh yeah I'm the DIY dude... although as "The Man" says, "a mans got to know his limitations". In
the building game you could always pickup plenty of info on other
trades by keeping your peepers open and if need be asking a few questions.

I've enjoyed being a DIY'er for years, and like many have learned from my own mistakes. I draw the line with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, won't touch it.

Two years ago I gutted and completely redid our upstairs bathroom that my kids share. I've also installed hardwood floors, a lot of drywall work as we had nail pops everywhere, and a lot of holes in the wall from an HVAC retrofit between our first and second floor. However, most of my DIY'er stuff is outdoor landscape. I love making pergolas, arbors, ponds, patios, firepits, enclosed and decorative gardens; while also finding scrap supplies and repurposing them into interesting flower boxes or sparrow bird houses.

Unfortunately with the price of lumber up 700% this year, I didn't focus on many landscape projects this season but rather have focused more on the plant care and gardening. It's driving me nuts not to complete what little I have left, but 6x4x12ft pressure treated timbers are going for an unreasonable amount of money for the amount I need to finish off my kids playset area.

Thanks for bringing these sections to life Avon and Spectre (for the DIY!)
